What does that mean?

it means that if they want to make national headlines over him shooting a plastic bb gun(the little plastic pistol guns at wallyworld) then the next thing we will see is people getting arrested for shining laser pointers near peoples faces. obviously this is more hazardous because it might hit an eye but those plastic bb guns can't even break skin from more than 10 yards away.

not that i disagree with it but this charge is borderline stupid if it becomes excessively serious.
as opposed to mildly serious?

and that is why shining a laser pointer is completely irrelevant. slippery slope much? by the way, the newswire necessarily makes this a national story.

the fact that it could have hit the victim in the eye and rendered him blind is what matters here. it doesn't matter that it can't puncture skin from a certain distance, which is debatable. lighty made a serious mistake and likely deserves the punishment he receives.

yea and if i go to toys r us and but a foam arrow gun for 3 bucks it could also take somebody's eye out. do i think i warrants a misdemeanor charge?......no. i won't disagree with the charge but if i see this make ESPN headlines or on sportscenter, i am going to accidentally going to shit a brick. i just find this act so minor that i'm amazed it even made a newspaper. if it was an air rifle/pellet gun then i could fully understand if it goes haywire because they are actual guns.

 The gap between an airsoft gun and a "foam arrow gun" is far greater than the gap between an airsoft gun and a air rifle/pellet gun.

not really. i could take somebodys eye out just about as easily with the foam arrow gun. the only difference is you can actually aim with an airsoft gun.

No, you couldn't. The probability of taking someone's eye out with an airsoft gun is a lot higher than the the probability of taking someone's eye out with a foam arrow gun.
