This from ESPN's Live Chat from the Senior Bowl

CJ (Orlando, FL): What's your honest opinion of Troy Smith?

sn2.gif
Todd McShay: (12:34 PM ET ) My honest opinion is that he had a good week but not a great week here at the Senior Bowl and that while he played like a late first rounder for the first 12 games of his senior season, momentum is still shifting severely in the wrong direction for him. He is barely six feet and he played poorly in the national championship game. He has been a little bit too erratic this week during passing drills. Tack on the fact he has some past character concerns and it would not surprise me if he fell to the third round.

I ate a cookie I wasn't supposed to when I was 12. Guess that rules me out for any office jobs in the future. :roll2:

If you make restitution by giving back a cookie plus 12 crumbs or interest, forfeit your pee-wee league football trophy, and agree to sit out 2 upcoming intramural basketball games, we may consider reinstating your eligibility.

Can't get over people slamming Troy because of one game where his receivers got zero seperation from the DBs and his line had the worst blocking game of their lives.

Oh & whose pole is Leon Hall smoking to get this praise? I watched this kid play 4 games this year and he looked ABSOLUTELY MISERABLE in all of them.

I agree. I think that's just the way shit goes. If Vince Young and Texas had a game like we did in the NC game the media isn't all over his nuts. I can remember them talking about how his throwing mechanics were poor, etc. One game doesn't make or break a player except for in the media's eyes.

troy smith has a tremendous arm, no ones debating that.

the real concern for him is his ability to see the field with his height. a lot of plays were designed for him to roll out and see the field.

I think Troy did ok in the pocket when he threw his 30 tds behind a line that averaged 6'6" don't you?...let alone a left side that has two 6'8" players. This is probably what slays me the most. He's been throwing behind these guys for years and I don't care what anyone says, I'm sure he's used to it by now. I hope Troy succeeds big time in the NFL and 6'5" Brandy Quinn flops like a Ryan Leaf clone.

I too hope Troy Smith prospers in the NFL, but I don't want to see Quinn flop. He's a native Ohio boy, and quite honestly, I take pride in seeing Ohio guys do well in the NFL. Plus, I'm really not the type who roots for kids to fail, especially when he carries himself well in public.

the OSU offensive line's average height is larger than most of the NFL rosters.....

.....that being said the NC game performance really hurts him in any eyes draftwise. like any NFL QB he is going to need a line and WRs to throw to if he wants to be good. he has the tools like mobility and an arm to do well, all he needs is a system and supporting cast to boot. if he gets that he will do good-great.......end of story.

Yeah, he'd be a brilliant fit in Oakland. I mean Quinn has done so well when his blocking is sub-par, right? :atom: (LSU 06, UCLA 06, UM 06, OSU 05, etc.)

Quinn has some nice tools, but you better have a good franchise around him first.

did he not roll out a lot this year? rolling out of the pocket lets him see the field.

on the 3rd day of practice, he threw 3 int's. I've been hearing hes a 3rd rounder now, which seems to low for me.
