S Vonn Bell (All B1G, All-American, National Champion, Cincinnati Bengals)

Really thought Pitt Brown was going to step up on Saturday but was disappointed in his production. Maybe with a couple weeks of practice he will feel more comfortable and become more productive. If not, maybe it's time to ring the "Bell". Did you see what I did there?

C. Grant in more of a liability in pass coverage than Brown. But we saw in the NU game how the Cats picked on Grant and Brown.
And picked on Roby surprisingly. Roby's head doesn't seem in the game. And maybe he's hurting from a sore back?
They tried Doran Grant and see how that went! Grant, arguably is playing the best of the defensive backs.
Barnett had a good game against Northwestern. And Wiscy.
I tend to believe Pitt Brown can get his coverage issues coached out.
Now, Vonn Bell is an unknown in coverage to us but the coaches see these guy every day so......

Completely disagree here. The DB's could have played a lot worse.

Idk how, didn't the NW qbs complete close to 70% of their passes? Roby was outperformed yet another week, and another average qb looked like john elway against us. Dony see how it could get worse, unless we actually lost. It can certainly be improved, but giving the young kid some reps wouldn't hurt. Its not like the guy in front of him played stellar, or even that good. Bell, like most frosh need more reps to catch up to the speed of the game

No, they couldn't, at least in the first half. Part of the problem, though, was their playing so soft in the first half...once they started to press cover in the second half NW was slowed down significantly.
My comment wasn't limited to the first half. We got a HUGE interception by Grant that turned into a touchdown and Barnett tackled well all game. I remember one in particular where he had a huge stop on 3rd and short. So yeah, they could have been worse, but by no means were they good.

When a team with little nfl talent has 2 qbs go a combined 25-30, not exactly much positive to be said about the dbs. You mentioned several semi positive plays. But our dbs need to step up and soon. This bye week comes at a great time. Hopefully roby gets healthy and gets back to being hungry and dominant

Barnett played well. Grant had a huge INT, but he also lost his man totally, making for an easy TD pass on the last TD that NW scored. Roby missed some tackles and blew some coverages. As for Brown, not trying to pick on him given it was his first start in a big game, but the only time I recall noticing him was when something bad was happening for the OSU defense. I agree Bell needs some snaps.
