Hines is #5 and he looks like a great athlete the first couple times up and down the court...

He may move back to LB in college, but he played DT in high school. Glenville ran a lot of nickel with Hines and Bruce Davis--also going to Iowa--at LB.

Hines looks similar on film to the other Glenville LBers that have verballed to us in the past: terrific acceleration to the ball and brings people down effortlessly. Another reason LBer is a position that we will not have to worry about in the foreseeable future.

Jer'Male is quite the athlete. He looks to be in control of his body while most kids are still adjusting at that age. I really like Hines and think he'll fit in well.

OSU freshman linebacker Jermale Hines wasn't allowed to attend the opener because he's still working on his academic eligibility with the NCAA.
"I guess what I'm allowed to say is we're in the midst of an appeal situation," Tressel said. "He's going to be here, but we've got to get some T's crossed and I's dotted."

Linebacker Jermale Hines has had to sit out while waiting for the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse to rule.



A promising freshman linebacker has finally been cleared to play for Ohio State.
Jermale Hines of Cleveland Glenville was given the go-ahead from the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse yesterday, Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel said.
Hines had been sitting out since Aug. 30 as the team awaited the NCAA decision. He will begin practicing next week.
