I'm sorry if this is premature, but somebody on Bucknuts mentioned that Jermale Hines transferred to Glenville. I don't know if it's 100 percent true, but the poster seemed credible.

Anyway, I watched Jermale play last year and he is legit. He is a 6-2, 200 pound running back. He played for Berrien HS last year in South Georgia and rushed for more than 1,000 yards on a bad team. The kid looked like a young Eddie George in running style and stature. He is a sure-fire D1 recruit and could really make a name for himself at Glenville. I know it's early, but being at Glenville, he should have interest in OSU (the poster said he is orginally from Cleveland, which I didn't know).

I'm having one of my sources in S. Georgia call the Berrien coach tomorrow to confirm the transfer. But this kid could challenge Mabin, Torrance and Saine for best 07 running back in Ohio if true.

Edit: Refined format--21

word is that Hines will be playing Safety and RB this year, along with some WR. apparantly he's has stood out at practices so far more than anyone. i guess he was originally from OH and then moved back for this year. according to that poster on BN, he loves the Buckeyes and would love to be offered by them.

If this kid is at Glenville (I forgot to call my friend today who was going to talk to the Berrien coach to confirm the transfer..so I still don't know 100 percent if its true..but there is a 99 percent chance that the bucknuts poster knows what he is talking about) I still think he is a running back. Glenville already has two good QBs, including Nelson with an Iowa offer. I don't see him playing QB. Add into the fact that I know he didn't play QB last year (Kenta West was Berrien's QB) and Hines is still a RB...and a damn good one.

If all 145-pounds of Ray Fisher at D1 and an OSU target, then I know Hines, at 6-2, 200 pounds, will also be a target next year.

I wish I would've seen Anderson Russell last year...Because Hines sound a lot like him in build...but Russell was Sr. and Hines was only a sophomore.

Jermale, his younger brother (RB/DB), and a cousin, Jonathan Soloman (OL/DL 6'1 250, Sophomore) are all at Glenville. Duane Long has confirmed this and also commented that the elder Hines is tOSU caliber.

obviously there's a family connection here but could the 'ville become a football version of oak hill or mt. zion in bball?
I doubt it.

this isn't Coach Ginn going out and recruiting top HS players in the country. No one should get excited about Glenville bringing in HS stars from across the country (crazybuckfan40 )

The players have Cleveland connections, that's all.

You never know, these kids see all the Ville kids getting ships and they might want to jump on that. Maybe not across the US, but maybe from the closer states (Penn, KY, IN, MI, etc.)

It does already seems to happen on a smaller scale with kids in the Cleveland area transferring there. I doubt this type of thing ever gets farther than local kids though.

and back on topic- I'm excited to get some more info on this kid.

I don't think Glenville will get many kids from outside the Cleveland area unless they have family in Cleveland....IE the Hines' and Solomon. But there are a lot of kids that have family in Cleveland in Georgia and throughout the south. Cleveland has one of the largest black populations in the country and most of them still have a lot of family in the south. Pretty much everytime I tell somebody "I'm from Cleveland, somebody will say I have an Aunt, Uncle, Cousins, grandparents etc...in Cleveland".

There is a possibility that some of those kids move in with those family members to be a part of the Glenville program.

The internet has really made Glenville a national name. These kids see Glenville sending kids to college. They see Ted Ginn getting heisman hype. They read about Pierre Woods and Donte Whitner starting at OSU and Michigan respectively.

A lot of those kids may want to be a part of it. That's a good thing for OSU, because a kid like Jermale Hines would probably end up at Georgia, Florida, FSU or Auburn if he stayed in SGA (Even though Berrien was horrible, anybody who followed SGA football knew who this kid was). But since he is now at Glenville, OSU fans have to like the chances of this kid playing in Columbus in a couple of years.

Trust me, if this kid has the grades, it won't be a hard sell on Ginn's part to get Tress to offer. He already looks like a 20-year old man. I'm sure coach Ginn is going to push him and he will get even bigger and faster in the next two years.

osugrad,

Did you talk to Duane? If so, did he say anything about Solomon. 6-1, 250 is big for a sophomore. I've never heard of him. He may have been at Berrien last year, but honestly the only person who scared the Thomasville coach (one of the school's I covered) was Jermale (the elder Hines). So he is the only one I knew about going into the game I saw Berrien play. Berrien also lost that game 49-3 and their lone highlight was a 50-plus yard run from Jermale.

Jermale was actually caught from behind on the play but the Thomasville DB, who runs a 4.5, had an angle on him. That run set up Berrien's only points. It was also one of the only times Hines actually wasn't hit at or behind the line of scrimmage. Berrien was really bad last year, which makes Hines' 1,000 yard season pretty amazing.

Coach Ginn calls Jer'Male his best non-senior prospect and projects him as a Will LB in college although he is also taking snaps at QB. According to Ray Small, Hinds already has the physical frame to play college ball. He is interested in tOSU, Michigan, Iowa, Michigan State, Virginia Tech, and Florida.
