Rutgers Scarlet Knights (official troll of PedSU)

Neither is going to be competitive upper division teams. They're going to be battling over 5th spot in the East...and that's if Indiana doesn't keep improving.

If you look at the 14 schools, since 1993 when Penn State joined the conference, Rutgers has the second-worst combined record for football (Indiana has the worst).

Rutgers is 101-134-1 in that period (IU is 79-152).

If you combine men's basketball to everyone in the Big Ten, Rutgers has the worst combination since 1993 (Northwestern second-worst).

Comparison sake, Ohio State is No. 1 in both football and combined since 1993.

In the comments section of that article several people (including another Rutgers blogger) claimed that the Scarlet Knights were going to be competing at the top of the B1G because they have outrecruited every school not named Ohio State.

Fortunately, when Rutgers & Maryland were first announced as new members of the conference I created a composite ranking for recruits from the 2010-2013 classes to see how the newbs compare.

The above claims inspired me to go ahead & update it to include current verbals from the class of 2014. Is Rutgers really kicking the B1G's ass on the recruiting trail?

Wait, you say? Those are Scout's rankings, everybody knows Scout sucks & the Rutgers fans were using Rivals instead?

Cue the sad trombone.

Nobody said they were going to do it but, rather, that it serves the interests of the conference and BTN were they to do so. I'll be rooting for them to do well because the better they do the quicker the BTN will control all those cable boxes and the drier Ped Aggy's traditional recruiting grounds will become.

Mongo only pawn in Delaney's game of life.

What in the wide, wide world of sports isa going on here? You want the newbies to be good? Yep, that will stop all that talk about how the conference has slipped and is no longer playing at the same level as the Big Boy football conferences.

The Pedsters will have no problems bringing shame and humiliation upon themselves. Don't need to have these rookies getting any bragging rights for that reason.

He's saying the more competitive Rutgers is, the more cable subscribers in the NY/NE are will demand the BTN be available on the basic cable package.

Though I imagine playing tOSU and tsun every year may accomplish that even if Rutgers shits the bed.

Also, ESPN has their narrative ready regardless of how Rutgers performs. Rutgers sucks dong, "The SEC wins expansion and the B1G added a shitty program!". Rutgers comes in and competes, "Look how shitty the B1G is! Rutgers is one of their best teams!"

I mean, look at Texas A&M. Couldn't win the Big 12, beats up on the SEC, yet no one at ESPN acknowledges it.

Rutgers football looks to show it can hang with Michigan and Ohio State in big, bad Big Ten
Rutgers felt the Big Ten is where it always has belonged, but not everyone sees it that way. 'I don?t really see Rutgers as a Big Ten football team,' Ohio State?s outspoken safety Christian Bryant said at Big Ten media day in Chicago. 'I don?t think it fits with the traditional Big Ten teams. No offense.'

Junior quarterback Gary Nova gives Rutgers a top-notch quarterback and also a player who hasn't forgotten that the team is still a year away from joining the Big Ten. 'Our team definitely hasn't forgotten about the American Conference,' he said.

NEWPORT, R.I. ? Although Rutgers champions being the birthplace of college football, it has never fostered a winning tradition. However, the past five years have been the high-water mark for the Scarlet Knights, who have enjoyed B-list bowl success and a curious interest among college football fans in the five boroughs.

This success may reach a crescendo this year as they are in position to compete for the automatic BCS bid from the newly formed American Athletic Conference, which will be their temporary residence for a year before they make the quantum leap to the Big Ten. ?I still believe, as I said last year, this is the time for Rutgers to start winning championships," head coach Kyle Flood said.

However, just as quickly as this tide comes in at the Jersey shore, it may go out again as there is a distinct possibility the Knights may not be ready for the week-in and week-out competition in one of college football?s premier conferences.

Rutgers felt the Big Ten is where it always has belonged, but its fans will soon learn you have to do more than just show up.

Eric LeGrand earned degree at Rutgers

Former Rutgers Scarlet Knights football player Eric LeGrand is one of the most inspirational figures in sports. LeGrand was paralyzed on the field back in 2010, but that has not stopped him from accomplishing many of his dreams and continuing to inspire others. LeGrand achieved yet another accomplishment and announced on Twitter that he has completed his degree at Rutgers. He was majoring in labor studies.

Ex-LSU OL coach Studrawa takes same job with Terps

greg-studrawa.jpg

Just a couple of weeks after “parting ways” with LSU, Greg Studwara has found himself a new coaching home.

Maryland announced Saturday that Studwara has been hired as the Terps’ new offensive line coach. Studrawa had been a part of Les Miles’ LSU staff as line coach for seven seasons, making him the longest-tenured assistant in the program before the two sides abruptly ceased and desisted their working relationship.

Don't know why, but I have a feeling some Rutgers events are going to be broadcast on the YES Network in the future. FOX now owns 80 percent of it.

I know it was rumored FOX offering to build BTN a studio (and corporate offices) in the YES Network offices. But that was just a rumor.
