Rutgers Scarlet Knights (official troll of PedSU)

I lived in Morristown in 2006, the best season of Rutgers football in a very long time, and pretty much without exception all the RU grads I knew were completely oblivious to it.

That's surprising to me, seeing as how I was here in Columbus that year and I watched several of their games, and rooted for them. They seemed like a nice little underdog school, with no bad press that I knew of (i.e., criminals in uniforms) and it was fun to see them win.

These were people who never really paid any attention to, or had any interest in, college football. Which I think is far more common in NJ and among RU alumni than it is in Ohio or among OSU alumni. From that perspective, it's maybe not all that surprising that a lot of Ohioians and/or OSU fans, who spend all year thinking about college football, would be more tuned in to an unusually good Rutgers football season than a lot of Rutgers alumni, many of whom never paid much attention to CFB, were.

Really good game for Rutgers. Wazzu is going to be a good club this year and their QB is the best in Pullman since Gesser imo (maybe better). Really big win to go to Seattle and pull off that win. Makes me feel a tad bit better about them being in our conference now. And for those who did not watch...their RB (James) may well end up being a 1st team B1G performer, kid is crazy talented.

BIG road wins against power conference, even if not in marquee matchups, are a good thing. Way to go Jersey Boys!

Happily, Fox Sports is re-running last night's game right now. (Seeing as how I snoozed out before the end). It was an entertaining game to watch, and a nice showing for our newbie conference member.

I especially like the symmetry of them winning their first-ever game as a member of the BIG, given that Rutgers is also the site of the first-ever intercollegiate football game*.

*They won that one, too.

Think it's great that a school with such a deep link to sports history is in our club.
