Rock Band/Guitar Hero Thread

I'll admit. When the GH/RB phenomenon began, I thought it was pretty damn silly. A bunch of grown ass men sitting around playing a game pretending to be the guitar gods of the past and present.

Tonight, I played GH3 and GH Rt80's. It is simply the most fun I've had on a console game in a long damn time. Of course i was entrigued when my ten year old daughter busted a 99% on Alice Cooper's "School's Out". So I opted to give a try. After a miserable start of 24% and 37% on some pretty simple tunes, I got better. Still playing on Easy, but am doing real well.

Scooter, if you liked GH3, Rockband is even more fun IMO. Having the option to also play drums or sing is pretty cool. On top of that, Rockband has been releasing songs like crazy to add to your collection. Theres a $1.99 fee for each song, but we've really enjoyed the ones we've gotten like Buddy Holly, Jukebox Hero (Remade by another band unfortunately), The Clash's cover of I Fought the Law, and a dozen other songs. They're also looking to release full albums of The Who, Metallica, and some other bands.
Just picked up a GH3 guitar so my friends and I can fill out a full 4 person band in Rock Band, looks like Rock Band won't be releasing additional guitars until April, not sure on Mics. Currently they have seperate drums for sale in stores, and in the summer they're going to release a light/smoke machine  A bit much I imagine, but I guess the younger players will enjoy it.

Also, last week it was announced that the new Guitar Hero game will be titled "Aerosmith." It will feature mostly songs by the band and will also include bands that influenced them and that they enjoy. I'm pretty stoked for this game personally, being that Aerosmith is my favorite band and all the songs are supposed to be the from the band and not remakes. Some "Walk this Way" and "Dream On" on guitar should be sweet.

The newest DLC pack for this week is:

Nine Inch Nails pack

- March of the Pigs (master)
- The Collector (master)
- The Perfect Drug (master)

:banger:

If you want to download songs for Rock Band do you have to buy an XBox live membership first?
yes, unless you go to a friends house and put your XB hard drive on their XBox and have them sign into their account and download the songs that way (I have heard it works this way, from a few people)

You can buy a one month membership to XBL for like $8 just to see if you like it.

the DLC for the week of 03/04 is:

The Grateful Dead

-China Cat Sunflow
-Casey Jones
-Sugar Magnolia
-Truckin
-Franklin's Tower
-I Need A Miracle

All of the tracks are master tracks, so no cover BS.

This will likely be my favorite DLC as of yet, because I love 60s jam songs as opposed to the heavy metal/punk stuff.

played last night with my buddies again and got far enough to try the "endless set list". All 58 songs in a row, with piss and smoke breaks it takes about 5 hours. And your hand gets pretty cramped toward the end. Anyone else put in the time to try it yet?

Is it me, or is Slayer - Raining Blood, on GH3, just insanely hard? I can do through fire and flame on medium now at about 90% but I can't get over 80% on Raining Blood in easy, and it's really the only song I fail on during medium.
