Rich Rodriguez (official thread of last laughs)

HtM, I agree it's pretty common, on varying levels of pursuit. However I find this one a bit peculiar. (Pure speculation upcoming) I seriously doubt this was Tiller's first time having a big school swoop by late and steal a commitment. I don't remember him blowing up before about it (maybe I missed it).

I wonder what Tiller means about not going in "that building" again. Roundtree's high school?

So for him to boycott & slam the school, does that mean they were involved in dismissing the reality of Roundtree looking around? Or am I reaching? :p

maybe he meant the shit-house on the corner of stadium and main...

tiller's last campaign against tsun is at home.

Worth linking this article which praises Stewart's handling of the first disciplinary issue during his tenure as WVU coach. But, the reason for the link is due to this:

If Rodriguez’s actions in his defection to Michigan surprised you, chances are you weren’t around to see the way he handled Adam “Pacman” Jones and Chris Henry.

Jones pleaded guilty as a sophomore in 2003 to a misdemeanor battery charge that grew out of a bar fight on the night his first camp broke, admitting to hitting a WVU student in the face with a pool cue. The charge originally was a felony, but was reduced to a misdemeanor in a plea bargain.

Jones wound up under home arrest and received a year’s probation from the court, but was never suspended by Rodriguez.

Henry was disciplined three times during his final season, 2004, missing a game and a half. Among his indiscretions was an obscene gesture at Rutgers fans.

Both players said thank you to Rodriguez for not canning them by leaving a year early for the NFL, where they became the poster children for out-of-control players, while most people felt their lack of character and discipline, along with a me-first attitude, destroyed the team.

I could swear I remember a visiting poster suggesting that Jones and Henry's problems were all post Morgantown :)

Rivals.com College Football - Wolverines may face reality check

Still Michigan

Many "experts" say Rich Rodriguez will win at Michigan only when he gets the players he wants. What many experts fail to realize is that Michigan has better talent now than what he had at West Virginia. Do you feel Michigan will be ranked in the preseason top 25 next year. If not, will the Wolverines finish in the top 25 and continue the longest streak of bowl games and winning seasons?
? Marlon in Kansas City

Rodriguez wishes he could have taken quarterback Pat White and tailback Noel Devine with him to Ann Arbor, but maybe your appraisal is correct and he has more talent at Michigan than at West Virginia.

Cont'd....

1969 Team Meets New Staff, Addresses Current Squad
As head football coach Rich Rodriguez starts to embrace the Michigan tradition, he is finding that the former Wolverine football players have been quick to embrace the new coach. On Tuesday, Feb. 5, Rodriguez invited the 1969 football team -- the first team coached by Bo Schembechler -- to address his first team at Michigan.

Dana Coin, a player on the 1969 team, brought the idea to Rodriguez, and the new coach was quick to bring the idea to fruition. The 1969 team also saw an enormous amount of change as Schembechler took over for long-time coach and Michigan player Bump Elliott.

Coin along with 30 players, including Dan Dierdorf, Reggie McKenzie, Billy Taylor, Paul Seymour, Jim Brandstatter, Don Moorhead and others, came to Ann Arbor to meet the new coaches and talk to the 2008 team about Michigan football and change. It was their mantra in 1969 that "Those who stay will be champions." On Tuesday, the 1969 team gave both the new coaches and the players a taste of that portion of the Michigan tradition.

Rich Rodriguez talks to the 1969 team
I think we should bring in the 1969 team as well. Get them to talk to the new team about how everything went, and use it to motivate the players before THE GAME.

It seems like Rich Rodriguez is embracing the scUM tradition.

It is good to see that rr is open and willing to embrace the UM tradition. The game of college football better when scUM is formidable. And it is so much fun to beat TTUN when it's for all the marbles.

I wonder how the football Alums will react however to seeing their new head coach crying on the sidelines after a loss, as I hope he'll be doing often near the end of future Novembers

Anybody watch RR on ESPNews today?

He was talking about why he took the job saying because its Michigan, who wouldn't take it basically. Then he started talking about "ignorant" people giving death threats to his nieces and nephews and kids, he started crying when talking about his kids.

I caught part of that. When he first mentioned his kids, he needed a few seconds to compose himself. Then he said that they were 9 and 11, and shouldn't have to deal with the result of a decision they had no part in.

He spoke favorably of the support he received in WV, which may help him get less grief from those folks, but might not help him in the lawsuit.

And he's right. It's a fucking game, for Christ's sake. Look, I love college football as much as the next guy, but IT IS A GODDAMN GAME! Should WVU fans be pissed that he left for Michigan? Sure, why not? I would be too. But there's being pissed and then just being a fucking douchebag, and our couchburning hillbilly friends have crossed that line. Death threats because a coach left your toothless school for higher paying job at a more prestigious university? Give me a fucking break. If you were offered a higher paying job at a better job, you would VERY likely do it. Death threats over a fucking game, give me a fucking break you goddamn assholes. Especially to his little kids.

I just saw this too. Gotta agree with him and there are people like that all over. Look what just happened at the Ill-Ind game and the piss throwers at PSU. Dumbasses!

Sniper is back and pissed, can we get a vbet on how long before he explodes at Mili and gets banned again?

Dude, I am not going to argue, the WVU fans have gone way overboard, but this whole saga has gotten so out of control that everyone is growing bored of it. Look, your head coach has no fucking loyalty, he's a fucking douchebag and no matter what he does on the field, this will haunt him. I don't like how he's been treated, but he's not exactly trying to calm the fires, he's putting them out with gasoline.

Oh, and that coach who left that toothless school graduated from that toothless school, so did his wife, so don't even try to argue the loyalty bit. This guy cares about one thing, himself.

If he doesn't have success at Michigan, he will destroy your program on the way out. And fans like you have shown me that if that happens, I don't need to care, it's time for Penn State to be the big #2 in the Big10, because you people are so obsessed with winning that you don't give a flying fuck what you have to do to make that happen.

Sniper I agree with you 100% that it is a game and no sense of percieved disloyalty justifies forgetting what the accepted rules of society are. People who make threats are nothing but cowards themselves.

But your point gets lost because you generalize an entire state and it's university based upon the improper behavior of a few. I'm sure it was just used as emphasis in order to get your point across but it causes your great points to get lost in irrational insults. Don't sink to their level, we all know you are better than that.

With that, glad to see you are back. You and your info has been missed.
