Reds Tidbits (2012 Season)

I think Wood's pitching type would fit in great at San Diego. He could be a world beater in that ball park.

Yep or Seattle, Oakland, any place that has some forgiveness for flyball guys.

Never more than a BOR guy in my mind no matter where he goes but we shall see.

Yeah. I'm just thrilled Edinson Volquez is no longer a Cincinnati Red. I don't know how much more of his shakiness I could stomach. Now the rotation looks pretty solid, IMO.

1. Latos
2. Cueto
3. Arroyo
4. Leake
5. Bailey/Chapman (after All Star break, possibly)

Some good arms in the bullpen now, too. Now here's to hoping that some of this good pitching will rub off onto some of these scrubs.

I'm looking at you Nick Masset.

So wait, Marshall did not get signed to a long term deal and the Cubs got Wood, Sappelt, and Torreyes?

Sorry, bad deal. A one year reliever is not worth squat. Especially since the Reds could get something similar near the trade deadline for a bag of old jock straps. 1/2 year of Marshall might get 1 game vs. a replacement player. Without a contract extension those minor leaguers should be about 30 and in AA, not players that could actually make an impact in the majors some day.

Got a season ticket flex pack from my wife for Christmas. Here's hoping they don't piss me off with some stupid bullshit that makes me give up on them before June... I'm not counting on it though, and she's been warned.

10. The Reds will win the World Series. The AL has, arguably, the five best teams in baseball. The NL has that kind of parity at the top, though at a lower level of performance. In a short series, though, that doesn't really matter -- and we'll see that again in 2012, as the Reds, winners of a weak NL Central, ride the bats of Joey Votto and Jay Bruce into the World Series, where rookie catcher Devin Mesoraco and a deep bullpen dispatch Texas in six games. The Rangers, winners of 94 regular-season games and the AL West, become just the third team -- and the first since 1913 -- to lose three straight Fall Classics.
