Reds tidbits (2010 season)

Arroyo must've thought he was pitching against the Blue Jays tonight.

On the bright side, it's out of the way now. He gets one more of those after the break, but the rest of his starts from now til June should all be quality starts.

There is usually a string of 3-4 7PM BP sessions from Arroyo before he goes back to being decent but what the fuck does it really matter? These guys are awful.

Good news is hopefully this hastens the departure of The Dusty.

Just for some quick humor before I turn it off:

Top 1 Reds- Stubbs K's on 4 pitches, Phillips pops up on 4 pitches, Votto K's on 5 pitches.

:slappy:

Can we get an insurance policy that pays off in the form of a real team should this current gaggle of rejects go down in a plane crash?

bases loaded no outs top 2.

I'm calling it now...they won't score.

EDIT #1 right on cue Gomes K's 1 out

EDIT#2
Hanagan closes his eyes, swing and gets a hit, fuck me they scored.

Stubbs ends the inning swinging at the first pitch.

He's managed 2 outs on 5 pitches and is working on lowering that robust .155 BA even further.

Our outfield by BA tonight

LF Gomes .212
CF Stubbs .155
RF Bruce .215

That's fucking impressive right there.

I may have missed a pitch, but I swear the Reds just went 1-2-3/1-2-3 in back-to-back innings seeing a grand total of about 12 or 13 pitches, not counting Leake's imaginary hit he gets credit for while trying to stretch a single into a double on Hunter Pence's arm.

The Dusty speaks:

Baker said Chris Dickerson will start tomorrow against Roy Oswalt. But Drew Stubbs, who is down to .150, was in the leadoff spot Wednesday. ?Both of them are struggling,? Baker said. ?Stubbs is struggling more. I?ve got to get him more aggressive early in the count. I know everybody talks about on-base percentage and working the court. But working the count isn?t helping.
?There are some pretty good guys around, like Juan Pierre, who hit what their on-base percentage is. We?re still trying to figure out what kind of big league hitter (Stubbs) is. I talked to him about being aggressive early in the count because when you?re hitting .150 with speed, the last thing they want to do is walk you.

Suffice it to say he wasn't trying to be funny.

And in 2nd place in the division! :slappy:

You're not even kidding?! Wow. What a sorry little division the Reds play in.

Speaking of lousy baseball...

One of my "bucket list" items (I hate that term, but what else am I going to call it?) is to see a game in every MLB team's home park. So far I've been able to check off GABP (of course), Wrigley Field & Citizens Bank Park. My fiancee is going on a business trip to D.C. in June and I decided I'd visit over a weekend while she's gone and catch some baseball along the way.

Here's the Sad Cavalcade of FAIL that I'm lining up for my trip:

  • Tues. - CHC at PIT
  • Fri. - CIN at WAS
  • Sat. BOS at BAL
  • Sun. - CIN at WAS

JFC, doubling down on some Reds/Nats action with a splash of Pirates and O's for flavor. You sir are one sick bastard.

I'd either pass out drunk or be removed by security (or both) by the 7th inning of the Friday game. No way I make it through all 4.

We have a fucking idiot for a manager. With Stubbs his best attribute right now is his ability to take a walk. Why try and take that away from him.

Without his 10 walks his OBP isn't anywhere near .300. Preferably would like his OBP to be up around .370 or so, which means if he can up his batting average up to around .240 area you have a damn good leadoff hitter.

If you look at O. Cabrera he is hitting .253 but his OBP is less than Stubbs because he walks half as much as Stubbs...

Stubbs is not a guy we need to drive in runs. We need him to get On-base so guys like Votto, Rolen, Bruce, can knock him in.

It is back to the base clogging thing...Dusty is a fuckin' idiot...

His BABIP is only at .244 right now which is low, and his line drive rate is low. Just give him time, work him into the 7 hole and have Dickerson lead off some if need be, but don't tell him to swing at everything, because you take away his greatest strength.
