Reds tidbits (2010 season)

"The Reds fully support Major League Baseball's drug policy and its penalties," the team said in a statement. "The organization does not condone in any way the use of drugs not sanctioned by MLB's medical staff."

Yes. The organization does not condone in any way the use of drugs not sanctioned by MLB's medical staff.

Um ... what drugs are those again, exactly?

Apparently not the same ones that lead to signing guys like Willy Taveras, which this organization seems to be fine with and avail themselves of often.

I just got home from this horse abortion. I never leave games early, but here I am back in my house while the Reds struggle to drag their limp, bloodied corpse across the finish line.

Harang is toast. He's past the point where you can even trade him for a pack of Big League Chew. It's a shame, because I have nothing against the guy except his lousy pitching this year. He's been a good sport about spending the best years of his career trapped in a vortex of defeat. Sad to say, but all that's left is to DFA once the man at the switch finally realizes what's happening.

Brandon Phillips should've been benched when he tried that behind the back toss to 2nd base. I'm not usually a "hustle" guy or a "make an example of him guy" but I'm also not a fan of declining an out when the other team rightfully makes one because somebody wants to make the highlight reel on Baseball Tonight.

I feel sorry for Joey Votto. He had a helluva game tonight, but his excellence is lost on this team. He's Aaron Harang circa 2006. I'm beginning to hope for his sake that he gets dealt to a team where his talents will be better realized - and recognized.

Well, 2 of 3 from the Dodgers helps take some of the bad taste out of my mouth from getting swept by the Pirates.

The bats have been better in this series, but ugh, Harang is really looking rough. At least the team has some young arms in the system that could come up in June. They really need to skip Harang's next start. I have no idea what to do with Bailey and Masset. Just hope they turn it around I guess. I have no hope in Harang.

On another positive note....Ondrusek was finally sent down (Fisher back up per my earlier prediction).

Arroyo must've thought he was pitching against the Blue Jays tonight.

On the bright side, it's out of the way now. He gets one more of those after the break, but the rest of his starts from now til June should all be quality starts.
