Reds tidbits (2010 season)

Don't even get me started on Bailey!

Yay! Gomes breaks up the no hitter. Too bad Bruce had his head up his butt, otherwise it would be 2nd and 3rd.

another complaint....Volstad can't hit the side of a barn right now and they are up there hacking at the first pitch.

hey, Bruce stole third. Too bad Gomes is still stuck on first.

Oh wait, I almost forgot about calling out Dusty Baker....

I can get a steal off Volstad. Yet instead of letting Phillips just steal the base, Dusty dials up the hit and run. Rolen swings at multiple balls like a good hitter should do when the hit and run is on. He then gets his out swinging at a bad pitch. Just call for the steal Dusty!

Here is your feel good statement of the day....Homer Bailey is out of minor league options, and no matter how bad he is will be in the majors all year.

Although if he continues to suck out loud they could move him to the bullpen. I hate to do that with young arms, but when a guy is out of options and sucks there really is no other option (well, you can waive him but he is still really young, cheap, and would be picked up in a second).

I hope Homer turns it around, yet his first two starts have been awful. He has actually been lucky to only have an ERA around 7 . It could be worse.

Of course Dusty was Dusty last night. Homer was struggling, could barely get the ball over the plate, and had over 110 pitches. Does Dusty pull him? No, that would overwork the bullpen. Much better to work that young arm until it falls off. Even worse, it was Homer Bailey. A kid that clearly has a fragile ego already. Bailey is the exact opposite of how I feel about Leake. I think Leake will fair fine being in tough situations. Homer always seems like he is one pitch away from losing his confidence completely, and still needs to be treated with kid gloves.

In fairness to Homer, that pitch that Carroll crushed in the 4th was damn near a foot high of the strike zone. Sometimes you just have to tip your cap to the other team for doing a better job of swinging at ball 4 and not taking strike 3 than what the Reds are currently doing.

He has been tipping his hat a lot.

You don't have a 6.97 ERA and a whip of 2 because other guys are just hitting good pitches. I don't care if he is facing the '27 Yankees every time he pitches. That just sucks.

Any recommended sites to quickly view MLB player contracts by team? I've found salaries, but I know there is a page out there that lists each player's salary by year as it pays out, I should have bookmarked it but didn't.

I think someone here linked it when I saw it the first time.

EDIT: found it, nevermind.

Paul Keels is a godsend so far. You barely even notice he's there - unlike the other total fucking goobers that usually call the game. He even seems to make Chris Welsh a little better.

It's a shame this team can't hit a lick and always seem to shit the bed against whatever anonymous lefty the Pirates (nee, Buccos) throw out there. Leake is pitching well enough for a #5 guy in his second professional start for the Reds to be in this game.

Anonymous Lefty was mowing down the Reds. He walks one guy and gets the hook. Two relief pitchers and three more walks later, the sad sack Reds are finally on the board.

I think the Pirates manager is in a spiraling death race to the bottom of the bottom of baseball's intellectual barrel.
