I didn't see or hear the game, yet I could smell the sarcasim dripping from that dog.

Not sure why Tipdog's all over Dunn's nuts for one bad night. He's batting .340 and on pace to hit 48 HR and 108 RBI (pretty good mostly hitting in the 2 hole). Of course, he is on his usual strike out pace, but I like the efforts he is making at the plate. He is still working the count, but taking fewer walks and getting more base hits. Good start to the season.

I think we'd all would love those numbers for the whole season.

Awesome. :banger:

CINCINNATI - Cincinnati Reds pitcher Aaron Harang today announced his Aaron's Aces ticket program for children of military personnel currently serving in the War on Terrorism.

For all Sunday home games the rest of the season, beginning this weekend, Harang will host 30 guests in sun deck Section 143. Along with the free tickets, Harang will provide $10 in concession coupons and a custom-made Aaron's Aces t-shirt.

The groups in April, May and June will be visiting from nearby Wright Patterson Air Force Base.

Reds fans ripping on Dunn has just become routine. I used to argue, I just shake my head and move on now. Only thing that pisses me off about the K's he and JR had were that they were looking not swinging. Sluggers strike out a lot, people need to come to grips with that.

Givin a season of coming up with that many ducks on the pond and he's going to give us the 50HR/130 RBI production level Marty seems to think should be par for Dunn.

Yeah, we went at it a bit about Dunn earlier this year. I think you were lumping some of my criticism's in with some of the typical stuff. I actually think he's addressed the things that bothered me most about him. I didn't feel that he has been aggressive at the plate, especially in clutch situations the last couple of years. He was content to take the walk, which I didn't like seeing him do with no one hitting behind him in the order. Or worse, he get caught looking while trying to get the walk. That's why I like Dunn in the 2/3 hole much better than the 5/6 hole. He sees more pitches to hit. Even if he K's 200 times, but puts an extra 40 balls in play, he's going to increase his HR/RBI totals. I couldn't blame him for the K looking against Shouse last night though, I thought that pitch was way off the plate. Mostly, he seems to be doing a good job of following Jacoby's advice and shorting his swing. He regresses some and still has that big whiff-o-matic stroke at times, but overall I see improvement. He keeps working it, the muscle memory will eventually take over.

Here's some funny stuff from him and Griff about his SB total:

Reds

Running donkey: Before Dunn was scratched, there was talk about his being 3-for-3 in stolen bases -- including a swipe in the fourth inning of Saturday's game. Dunn has joked since spring that his goal was to swipe 77 bases this season.

"It's just a number I came up with in my head," Dunn said.

"Seventy seven? Maybe 7-for-7," right fielder Ken Griffey Jr. joked. "Don't do that. Start that next year, and you'll be a leadoff hitter. A 6-7, 265-pound leadoff hitter. They'll expect him to slap the ball around, get on base and run."

Last year, Dunn stole seven without being caught. His career high was 19 steals in 2002.

"I can't get thrown out," Dunn joked. "I go when I know I can make it."

"If he steals another one, we'll definitely put it on the big screen at home. It'll be his body on a donkey," said Griffey in a reference to Dunn's "Big Donkey" nickname.

You have to love the way that Dunn has adjusted his swing this year and is going more to left field...

That will take away from the shift and allow him more hits...Yeah it sucks when you watch him strike out alot, but as Jax said that is what sluggers do...

I am basically complaining about his inability to stop striking out. Not about him going 1 for 5. Dunn is off to a great start this season but is still going to strikeout a ton. But I am going to hold of on my praise of Dunn until I see him batting over .260 come august.

Jax is correct, he'll probably never cut down on the Ks. Power hitters just K alot. Ryan Howard was just as bad as Dunn last year, and I'd gladly take his #s. IMO, Dunn was becoming a BB, K, or HR guy. I like to see that he's doing more than that. He looks to be working on becoming more of a hitter and not just a HR hitter. I'm with ya CB40, he drives the ball the other way a couple of times a week and the other D's will have to start playing him more honest. He almost poked one down the 3B line last night, just went a little foul.

From my seat in the upper deck right behind home plate, it looked like the ump was calling an inconsistent strike zone. Shouse in particular got the benefit of a very wide zone.

Dunn (or Captain Sexy, as my girlfriend calls him) has started off well this season. I am concerned about the fact that he hasn't taken a base on balls in the last 10 days (I think that's what I saw on RZ) but I think that'll come around.

I really bashed Narron for the R-L-R-L thing, but I do think it has its place, so long as that's not the primary principle by which he is putting together his lineup. Last night the Reds had Hamilton, Dunn & Griffey batting 2-3-4 and that was a perfect spot for the Brewers to bring in Shouse. I don't think it's good to completely break them up, because they represent the most productive/respected hitters the Reds have right now. I do think though that Encarnacion needs to be put in there to break up the lefties a little bit though. I'd especially like to see him batting between Hamilton and Dunn. Since he's struggling right now, some might hesitate to stick him in that kind of spot, but he'd get a lot of good pitches to hit batting in front of Dunn and that might be what he needs to get out of the slump. Also, when teams bring on their lefty specialists out of the pen, you might get a good matchup for Edwin.

The only problem I see right now is, with Encarnacion and Hamilton in, that leaves Freel out, and who bats leadoff? I much prefer Hamilton in the two spot - I think they need to put him in a position where there could be SOMEBODY on base for him to drive in. Having Hamilton essentially hitting behind the catcher, Gonzalez and the pitcher is a waste of what Hamilton seems so far to be capable of producing for this team.

Well, EE is not in the lineup again tonight. Interesting, not quite sure what this means.

Well, Bill Hall leaves town and now we get Lance Berkman. Out of the frying pan and into the fire as far as players who own the Reds are concerned.

Let's set the over/under for the cumulative distance of Berkman's home runs tonight at... 775 feet. What do you take? I'll take the under. I say the Reds hold him to just one 435-footer.
