Reds Tidbits (2007 Season)

Hamilton has so much raw talent that it is just sick...

This kid is a rookie of the year canidate if he keeps playing the way he is...

It kinda sucks that we have 9 position guys that should probably be playing every day, but what do you do, I think right now Narron is going with who is hot, but I just hope that he doesnt keep pissing with the lineup too much...

good question and they jusy pulled him.
I find it difficult to find answers to many of the actions of Jerry Narron.

Well, there's one of those Jerry Moron losses. Way to piss away another great start by Harang. Well, I won't call it a loss just yet. Houston has had their bull pen struggles.

Here we go again. Man I bet Harang and Arroyo are second guessing the contract extensions. How many games do you think being on Jerry Narron's team each year cost those two. I'd have to say at least 2-3. Harang is a 20 game winner on a better managed team. Arroyo lost 5 or 6 in a row last season, or no decision, based on what the team did or didn't do for him after he pitched lights out. Don't know whats up with Coffey. Cormier still sucks, I want Livingston back up here!

On a brighter note: How bout that Josh Hamilton?! Are we looking at the best all around player in baseball next year? He hasnt played in years and the guy does it all like its easy. Batting over .300 with 4 HR's and 8RBI's. His defense appears to be second to none in the outfield. The best thing about it all is he's already been humbled by a terrible ordeal- there's no big league attitude with him right now. I know I've put the cart before the horse here but the guy's skills are insane.

Brandon Phillips is an all-star. If he brings the average up .020 points, he's a lock. I'd almost think about moving him up to the second spot with Hamilton batting leadoff to break up the string of Lefties. If Freel bats down in the order he'll still be on base for Hamilton and the rest but he's slumping a bit and where is he going to play everyday? 3rd? Whats up with EE??? Boy a lot of questions about this ball club right now. A lot.

Alright maybe I shouldn't drink so much coffee during the Reds game.

I'm not even going to post what I want to post. I'm just pissed. In Dryden-land, this team is 12-3.

Narron needs to go.

Too bad Narron is our manager and we are only 1 game over .500...:!

Narron can't manage a game for shit...I mean he makes moves that casual fans question...Does he ever make smart moves...I mean why do we see that Stanton is a better pitcher than Cormier, but it seems Cormier gets a lot of the meaningful innings...What about the fact that most poeple know that more you move the lineup around the more it fucks up the repetition and rhythm of the team...

Also with Hamilton showing how damn good he is, why has it taken so long for him to get him all these at bats...He had hte chance to see all this in spring training and I know spring training is spring training, but it is just obvious with watching him that he is special...A blind man could see this one...All the fans had were the news reports and the box scores, Narron was seeing this phenom live, but it took till the 3rd week of the season till he gets multiple starts in a row...

And I won't even hit on teh Milton front...

I'll temper that by saying that Hamilton is still a rookie. Hindsight is 20/20, but as a Rule 5 pick, if he comes up to The Big Show (tm) and flops, you can't send him to AAA to work out his swing. Plus, even before the drug issues, he was injury prone -- most accounts say he was lead down the path to drugs because he was injury prone and had nothing else to do in his spare time -- I honestly don't know, I'm just going by what I've read in the Cinci Enquirer.

Given the results, I can't fault the Reds be for being cautious. If he breaks into the lineup on Opening Day, does he bust out like he has now? We don't know. You can't argue the results; they're off the charts for any rookie, even beyond one that has been away from the game for four years. I have a hard time rationalizing that he could be performing better than he has already, otherwise we're talking about the A-Rod-in-a-career-year stratosphere, and you can't expect any rookie to achieve that height, regardless what Hamilton has shown up to this point. It's an amazing story, and given the production, I'd argue the Reds org have utilized him perfectly to this point to accelerate his comfort level and development.

There is no precedent. Hamilton is a rookie without peer given his situation.
