Reds Tidbits (2007 Season)

Brantly is going to catch some hell for his choking routine on Aquino.

Said its hard to throw with your right hand when the left is around your throat and then started doing choking sounds. I was laughing but if I heard someone say that about my team I'd go nuts.

I was screaming at JV not to swing but glad he wasn't listening !!

I was pissed when he didnt take the 2-0 pitch and then swung stupidly at the 2-1 pitch...But at least he made up for his stupidness...

Belisle didnt throw well tonite, but the thing that I saw was that he battled, much like we see Harang do when he doesnt have his stuff...We are going to need that to be one of his worst starts of the year tho...

Also we need really need to find a way to have Freel and Hamilton in the lineup together...With Freel at the top getting on and making things happening and Hamilton's ability to hit the ball in the gap and hit for average, he is a very good 2 hitter for us since he can at least do the hit n run thing, but we don't have anyone one our team that is going to lay down a bunt and move the guys over to put in the 2 spot...

I agree with the latter of that but Javy has proven to be one of our most clutch hitters and if he wants to swing away with RISP I'm okay with it, Dunn on the otherhand....

...and so it is!
See what I did there? I'm like Carnac the Magnificent and shit. :p

Update:
When the starting pitcher is a righty, the Reds are 6-1 w/ 41 runs scored.
When the starting pitcher is a lefty, the Reds are 2-5 w/ 19 runs scored.

Freel just looks more comfortable against right handed pitchers. Gonzalez was solid in his return. Amazing, yet not, seeing what sitting EE, Ross, and Castro does for this offense.

I like Cowboy. It's annoying me that Thom doesn't pick up Brantley's schtick when he plays the backwoods routine, especially when Brantley purposely ends his sentences with prepositions after Thom pokes fun at him for saying "fixin'."

Just got home from the ballpark. That was a boring-ass game, but I'm glad the good guys found a way to come out on top. I was most encouraged by two things: the fact that the Reds, and Javy in particular finally broke open an inning when you start an inning by getting the first couple guys on base. Also, it was good that Coffey got to go in during mop-up time and bounced back from a horrible outing last night.

I was disappointed not to see Edwin play at all tonight, but was very happy with Freel's performance. The Reds really need those kind of games in the leadoff spot.

I know what you are saying, but the guy had thrown 10 straight balls...

It had better be a pitch that you are going to hit out of the ballpark or you better not be swinging...Especially in a tie game...

Reds Trying to Get Hamilton into Lineup

You've got to love Freel. What a team player! :pimp:

Watching Hamilton perform in his limited chances made Freel realize he was going to have to go back to his utility role to create a place for the newcomer. So, on his own, Freel started taking infield practice last week.

"I've been taking ground balls over the last four or five days," Freel said. "I was just reading between the lines of what's going on. We have to have Hamilton's bat in the lineup. I figured out what was going to be happening. Nobody told me."
