Reds Tidbits (2007 Season)

The Reds were just held scorless in 25 of the 27 innings of a 3 game set......and won 2 of 3. Thats def. a 10 on my wierd-shit-o-meter.

What'd they have today? 2 hits? Remarkable win, but can't keep relying on the pitching to be this good. I saw a good part of the game and Lohse looked awesome. Throwing 1st pitch strikes and not having his typical mental lapses with the bottom half of the lineup. That's the thing with him, you don't know if you'll get this the next time out or he'll give up a 6 spot in the 4th. He just needs to be consistent.

Had to stay away as I had the game recorded and didn't want to ruin the ending!

First off, Jax beat me to it, but how can we take 2 of 3 having only scored in 2 innings of an ENTIRE SERIES?

Second, Brady Quinn performs Take me out to the ballgame about as well as he performs against the Buckeye D.

Third, there must have been something in the air because every pitcher (outside of Stormy) had FILTHY stuff. Lohse and Lilly were both too far above their average to think otherwise. Wertz was again killing us. It was not a case of hitters not hitting well, the pitchers were sick. I couldn't explain it, but there was something.

I was really scared when we let Lohse hit for himself with 2 out in the 7th. I know our bench is thin and his pitch count was low (I think 96 at the time), but how many games have we lost this year because Narron kept the starter in one inning too long. Hell, I'd have been fine with Lohse hitting for himself and Sarloose pitching the 8th. Lohse pitched fine, but I felt like we avoided disaster again.

Lastly, I am again happy to take 2 of 3 from a division foe. I'd happily take that all year long!

"For our ballclub to come in here and score in two innings and win two out of three, that's pretty good," Reds manager Jerry Narron said. "That's getting it done."

Not hardly dumbass!:shake:

And therin lies the problem with Narron. His perspective is all jacked up. Instead of saying what he said here, he should have been ripping asses and telling it like it is, a freaking stroke of luck to win any of those games in Wrigley. No need really to say anymore about the Reds situation because everyone here can see it. We have NO OFFENSE.

Wow, that is just stupid. I said it before and here it is again, he is just too much a company man. Be a man, stand up and say what you really feel. My 5-year-old could read through that crock of s**t.

He does such a great job with the players, but can't figure out the basics of the game. It really is too bad. Perfect example was how he handled the EE thing yesterday when EE got hit on the hand but the ump called it a 3rd strike. He was out there in a flash and positioned himself between the ump and EE perfectly so the ump couldn't see EE's fit and toss him (saving his depleted bench). Then he never uses that bench, and lets Lohse hit for himself after 7 great innings in a 1 run game.

Meh. I'm not too concerned with that. Don't know if you saw the foul ball Lohse ripped deep down the left field line in the 8th, but right now -- as far as making contact goes -- Lohse appears to be about the sixth or seventh best hitter on the team.

The lack of offensive production yesterday was certainly in part due to guys trying to get benched so they could go back to the clubhouse before the seventh so as not to hear Brady "I can't sing any better than I can play in big games" Quinn butcher "Take me out to the Ballgame!"

I can't remember who, but someone quoted Milton's HR stats on the radio today. He gives up an average of almost 2 per game at GABP. Wow, I knew it was bad, but that is gawd awful. Bad first inning tonight. Only one crossed the dish and that was due to Jr.'s error, but Uncle Milty threw about 40 pitches. He'll be lucky to make it through 5 tonight.

Tracy Jones was talking about Brook Jacoby this morning. He mentioned that even though some of the guys are scuffling (EE, Phillips) they are keeping their shoulder in and driving through the ball. Mechanically they look better. The hits will come.

4/16/07 game vs Brewers

Numbnuts leaves Coffey in when it obvious after about 5 pitches he has nothing tonight.

Grandslam Bill Hall.

Fuck Narron.

Total waste of a decent start by Uncle Milty. Despite going deep into counts and not having an "out" pitch, he pushed through it. Only 1 ER on a dinger by Weeks. Glad I turned it over to 24 and only had to see Coffey's performance on Gamecast.

Milton only went 5 innings...That is not a very good start, even tho he only gave up 2 ER...

Still don't understand why he left Milton in to hit to make the last out in the bottom of the fifth, only to have him give up a hit to the first guy and then take him out...

Also what do you guys think about the reason why Phillips has been struggling, is partly b/c of the fact that Narron hasnt batted him in the same spot iin the order or behind the same people all year...I don't know if it bothers you guys as much as me, but he needs to get a feel for the type of pitches he is going to see being in the 2, 3, or 6 hole and what his role is, who will be on base, etc...

I missed that Moron left Milty in to start the sixth. Guess he wanted the lefty v. lefty match up with Fielder. Worked out real well. At this point, I'll take 5 innings from Milton. Why does Bill Hall own our ass?

As for Phillips, I don't think his problem is being shuffled in the line up. He just needs to work on plate discipline. He has played excellent D since coming over and his stick has been better than expected. He appears to be working on taking more pitches.

Hamilton needs to be in the line up everyday until he proves otherwise.
