5 pitch walk to Javy.

Oh-Man! comes in and issues TWO RBI walks on 9 pitches. Sweet Lou is ecstatic, I'm sure. I have GOT to watch SportsCenter when I get home at 6:00, because this has all the makings of a classic Lou moment.

You hit that nail on the head! Lou was awesome!

Thank you SportsCenter, and thank you Lou!!! :banger:

Shit, 2 runners on with 2 outs. This is Stormy's 3 straight game pitching and he pitched 2 innings in the Az loss. Don't like the looks of this one.

Yeah, Stormy never likes to make it easy does he? Anytime you put a runner on and one swing of the bat from Derrek Lee will end it, it definitely makes it hard to watch.

Outside of the fifth inning, the Reds had one hit the rest of the game. But I will certainly take it. Hats off to the bullpen today going five scoreless.

EDIT: Can somebody explain to me how Coffey gets credited with the win? Coutlangus came in in the bottom of the fifth with the lead and since Harang didn't go five, why wouldn't Coutlangus have the W as the first pitcher in after the lead? Coffey didn't even enter the game until the 7th, and Santos and Cormier also preceded him. What rule am I missing?

In that situation, the "W" is awarded to a pitcher at the official scorer's discretion - it goes to whomever he/she thinks deserves it. Marty alluded to that rule during the broadcast, and said he thought Coutlangus should have been in line for the win. I guess the official scorer at Wrigley Field did not agree.

Did anyone else see "Sweet" Lou's Press Conference today?
I kept waiting for him to scream "Playoffs?!?!"

Official scorekeepers discretion. If there are multiple relivers, the scorekeeper should choose the one, in their view, that was most effective. Coutlangus pitched one inning (12 pitches) with 2Ks and no hits, while Coffey pitched two innings (35 pitches) with 3Ks and one hit.

Rule 10.17(b) Comment: It is the intent of Rule 10.17(b) that a relief pitcher pitch at least one complete inning or pitch when a crucial out is made, within the context of the game (including the score), in order to be credited as the winning pitcher. If the first relief pitcher pitches effectively, the official scorer should not presumptively credit that pitcher with the win, because the rule requires that the win be credited to the pitcher who was the most effective, and a subsequent relief pitcher may have been most effective. The official scorer, in determining which relief pitcher was the most effective, should consider the number of runs, earned runs and base runners given up by each relief pitcher and the context of the game at the time of each relief pitcher?s appearance. If two or more relief pitchers were similarly effective, the official scorer should give the presumption to the earlier pitcher as the winning pitcher.
