Reds Tidbits (2007 Season)

Milton only went 5 innings...That is not a very good start, even tho he only gave up 2 ER...

Still don't understand why he left Milton in to hit to make the last out in the bottom of the fifth, only to have him give up a hit to the first guy and then take him out...

Because Jerry doesn't understand the concept of not giving away one of only 27 outs you get in a game. To new school for him I guess. He leaves the pitcher in to hit for themselves all the fucking time.

Hamilton needs to be in the line up everyday until he proves otherwise.

Absogoddamnlutely. Its not even a question anymore. Problem is numbnuts will take AB's from EE to give them to Freel who just needs to go back to supersub role.

Fuck Bill Hall.

And anyone who looks like him.

Milton starts, gives up only 2, we score 6....and lose. Payback from the baseball gods for the Cubs series already.

Human beings are creatures of habit. When Narron changes the fielding and hitting assignments every day it does affect the offense. You cant say that it doesnt. Even though these guys are professionals they still need some damn continuity. No rhythm can be found for anyone at this rate and any win we get is by pure f'in luck or the pitching is unfuckingbelievable like Lohse the other night. Somebody had got to jerk Narron in the ass and set him straight for crying out loud!

Any time you score 4 or more runs though you should be in position to win a ballgame. Tonights game really wasnt in the cards. Milwaukee should never win a series against the Reds I don't care what anybody says. Screw Selig and his whole Milwaukee bunch. We have too much pride and history to lose to those guys, regardless of who is hot.

Step it up Reds!!! Lets freakin Go!!!

I think this is a good move by the front office and its just another reason to root for Ryan Freel. Contract extension.

Now, we have Freel signed so he's going nowhere. He won't last all season in one position so get the utility use out of him now and leave Josh Hamilton in the lineup! I don't really care where Josh plays but don't take him out. If we have some gear that will fit him, drop Moeller and put him behind the plate. I'd like to see guys steal on him with that arm!

Yeah,Yeah I know it takes more to be a catcher, I was one, but at this point we need to shake it up and make guys fear for their careers. We honestly aren't going to get better pitching, save for Coffey's bad outing tonight. That means if we don't take advantage by the All Star break we're out of it. I'm not going to give up on these guys but they have to be in position to win it or there better be some changes. If we aren't going to win it anyway I want Votto and Bailey up here now for the experience. If we are going to make a push I'd like to see some intelligent managing start to take affect. What are the chances of that happening?:shake:

Votto is not hitting the ball well at all...I believe he was 0-3 last night with 3 K's...I really hope that he snaps out of his funk...

And WTF Castro has started 4 straight games at SS is beyond me...Move PHillips, but Freel at 2nd and you have our best offensive lineup possible...:!

Also once again this season we are killing ourselves with RISP...I don't even want to know what it is for sure, but I do believe it is under .200...:(

Also I believe someone said it on here, or maybe I read it elsewhere, but we would make Milton look like Cy Young...We can't hit left handed pitching to save our lives...

And one last thing, I hope for a good start from Belisle toinite and a little offense and a win...

I was looking for Belisle's ranking for pitchers on CBSSportsline, and they haven't even bothered to move him over to a starter from relief. He's getting no respect around the league right now other than the people he's pitched against. I'm really hoping he's finally conquered the mental aspect of things and continues to pitch well. I don't expect shut outs from him but I think he is capable of holding teams to 3 runs over 6 innings game in and game out. Who knows if that will be enough to get him the win though.

Honestly I feel confident with Harang, Arroyo, Lohse, and Belisle...

All of them are capable of throwing a solid 7 innings and holding opponents to 3 runs or less...

I will never have confidence in Milton, but I always have faith that he will throw good, but is it not obvious that we have better options that can throw more than 5 innings, and keep the ball in the ball park...Give me Livingston, Sarloos, or Dumarait at this point, and hopefully Bailey later in the season...

Was thinking about how it seemed every time I turn on the tube the past two weeks and go over to FSN to watch the Reds, the opposing pitcher is a southpaw. So I looked it up and added up game scores:

When the starting pitcher is a righty, the Reds are 5-1 w/ 30 runs scored.
When the starting pitcher is a lefty, the Reds are 2-5 w/ 19 runs scored.

These numbers are simple RS for the game based on the handedness of the opposing starter. I'm not breaking down bullpens or situational stats, just looking if there's a trend given that the power in Cincinnati is predominantly from the left side (Griffey, Dunn, Hamilton) coupled with the complete flame-out of all the righties not named Conine, who has to hit homers since it's difficult to run around the bases with a walker. :p

Scheduled starter for the BrewCrew tonight is Dave Bush, a righty with his 5.25 ERA and a WHIP of 1.42. In his two starts this season, he's given up 6 runs on 8 hits in 6.0IP to the Cubs in a 3-9 loss, and only 1 run on 8 hits in 6.0IP in a 5-2 win over the Marlins.

If the Redlegs are to get the bats going, tonight is the night to do it. They've faced a lot of lefty starters and have paid the price for it, so here's hoping the Reds return the favor and hang double digits on Milwaukee.

I think Milton is serviceable enough to throw him his remaining 10 starts and reevaluate where the club is at the break.

If this team continues to provide their pitchers no run support or defense, it won't matter who is starting. Milton has actually looked fine in both starts. The outfielders have really let him down both times out.

I would just like more innings out the Number 5 guy...He is all over the plate and when the weather gets a little better he will be giving up his average of 2 homers a game with his 8-9 hits and 5 runs every 5 innings...

Numbnuts just used Ross as a PH instead of Conine....weak pop up after getting ahead 2-0.

Also brought frenchie in with 2 on and 1 out...hit the first batter he faced.

1st inning JR can't score from 2nd on a slow rolling hit to right field gets Phillips caught in a rundown.

Finally got Bill Hall out

edit

Bottom 7, 2 on no out, Dunn and JR both K looking.
