RB Roderick Smith (Official Thread)

That was a flash of brilliance. If he runs with that effort and attitude it's going to be hard to not give him more carries.

That run is what it looked like he did in HS and what we all thought he would do when got on campus.

LOVE seeing his hard work pay off. Great run yesterday and he is making some serious strides. I could easily see Rod taking the starting role and running away with it in due time...of course Hyde is a junior but Rod is going to keep contributing.

that was a bad ass run. had a buddy that lived in fort wayne when Rod was playing HS football, saw the run last night, said that is exactly what he did in HS. Keep up the hard work Rod, love seeing perseverance and hard work pay off.

Urb said in the post game:
?You can see what we are, we?re kind of a pound ya offense right now,? Meyer said. ?I don?t mind that. I?ve not had a lot of those. But that?s a pound ya offense.?

We wanted to really rely on Carlos Hyde a little bit, to pound him the way I felt he earned it, and I made that comment after what I saw in the last drive against Michigan State; that maybe we can pound the ball for five, six, seven yards. Some people would say it's not the most exciting thing. It's pretty good to call a play on second and four, though, second an three.
I suspect that Rod Smith will be rewarded in the near future.

No pivot guy available, so Braxton runs the counter trey for Urb, which Nebraska invented:

Many teams have run this play, but it first became well-known when run by the Washington Redskins in the 1980s and the early 1990s, which they modeled from the Nebraska Cornhuskers
Meanwhile, the ghost of Woody Hayes rises and causes tOSU to have a pound ya spread.

Agree. He's only a sophomore at this point. As long as he keeps buying in to Urban's system he's got all the tools to be a major contributor.

This is Ohio State - we have and will continue to punch you in the
Mouth and test your mettle between the tackles. I form... Spread...?
Makes no difference. Old school mentality, new school style.

Yes it is nice to have TWO big backs with a little hitch in their giddyup.

Jordan Hall would be a nice change of pace. It is hard to see a young man get hurt like he did. This along with the incredible skill of Braxton Miller gives Ohio State an impressive thunder and lightning ground attack.

I have been a doubter and Ohio State still has a few issues to work on, but I can doubt no more.

Rod Smith Hoping Return to Where it Started will Be Fresh Start for his Career

That?s all it took for Rod Smith to see the light at the end of the tunnel he had been desperately searching for since he arrived at Ohio State as a highly-touted freshman out of Indiana back in 2010.

?It felt good to be recognized for being a help to the team, whether that?s on special teams or offense,? Smith said after his highlight-real 33-yard touchdown run against Nebraska on Saturday night.

?Any type of way, it just feels good to be involved.?
