RB Michael Weber (New Jersey Generals)

The only information I have on this recruitment and Drayton communication leaving is from here and 11W (read: mostly conjecture). My user name should explain clearly my allegiances.

But I can certainly see the reasons for being upset if I'm Weber, family, or the head coach of the high school. Not that Stan left, but potentially HOW he left. Yesterday both Stan and Urban should have called both Weber/family and the coach before it broke. Recruiting a hotbed school like Cass is about developing and maintaining relationships. Without a call, that has been damaged no matter how much the situation can be explained away. If the Coach was looking for a reason to throw mud on Ohio State, it was provided for him. Even if the coach is being advantageous and embellishing the situation to make it bigger.

Having said that; I don't believe Stan should have said anything leading up to signing day though. He would have come across as someone with one foot out the door.

As I said, I don't know what has been communicated between all the parties so my points may be worthless no matter what, but it appears so far tOSU staff could have softened the blow here.

This was not handled correctly, but good lord. Talk about somebody blowing something completely out of proportion (The coach is who I'm referring to).

No kidding. This has happened many times before and it will happen many times again, yet I don't recall the wailing and gnashing of teeth when this has happened at other schools. This is a matter between, ultimately, Urban and Mike.

The bottom line with how much this is being blown out of proportion is that everybody in the state of M=ch=gan, including his family and most of all the coach, wanted Weber to flip back to scUM. So this is their opportunity to forever bash OSU on the recruiting front and hopefully keep them out of traditional scUM strongholds like Cass Tech. At the end of the day a kid commits to the school, not a position coach, just based on the simple fact that position coaches come and go. If Urban left they'd have a point. But otherwise this is all just ridiculous.

I think if position coach was that important he would have picked Michigan and by a mile. The NFL is huge on his radar and you have a guy like Tyrone Wheatley who played in the league and who coached guys like CJ Spiller and Fred Jackson. This seems like BS and people around him butthurt about his decision and putting ideas in his head.

Yeaaaaaa that's completely different, and if you don't see that then whatever.
Yeah, whatever your whatever. Drayton didn't deceive anyone...period. He owes nothing to anyone except to himself and his family...period. And actually it's really not that different, and if you can't see that...when you can fill in the rest.
