RB Michael Weber (New Jersey Generals)

I'm not sure why folks have a hard Time acknowledging that mistakes were made. It's really not a question of taking this too personally it's just a mistake in handling this and it's pretty obvious the kid is disappointed. His disappointment is understandable.

Can everyone move along successfully? I'm sure they can. But that doesn't take away from the fact that this was poorly executed and not necessary.

Now this board has devolved into meaningless attacks on various posters for acknowledging what the kid is feeling. Nobody is falling off any ledges here, I think people are just trying to admit that this wasn't handled well.

Exactly.

No recruit is worth potentially sacrificing your integrity on the recruiting trail. The staff messed up. You now have a high school senior who is upset. Let's hope they can mend fences and this never happens again.

I would also suggest it is highly unlikely that if Drayton had accepted the Bears job prior to NSD that Harbaugh wouldn't have gotten wind of it through his NFL connections.

Never did I say that I didn't think OSU could have handled this differently. Never did I say that I can't sympathize with what Mike might be feeling. But to suggest that OSU should be held to a different standard makes no sense to me. You want to win games? Sometimes these are the types of residual effects that come with running a program that competes at the highest level. You can't just bury your head in the sand. This is recruiting in 2015. This is college football in 2015. Both sides assume a certain amount of risk.

All good discussion...either way.
I don't think we're holding OSU to a different standard. We're holding all schools to this standard...it's just now OSU has moved over to the other side of the argument.

I've been a Buckeye fan for 50 years, and in that time there have been more than a couple things that have bothered me. If things are as they 'appear' to be in this case, then this may rank as one of the top of those things. This has to do with trust. If the Buckeyes are 'Family', then you should trust family.

I really hope that Mike wasn't mislead (lied to?). If he was, and I was his father, then what advice do I give him? And what should the Buckeye family be thinking?

Soooo.... How about Mike fighting for that backup RB spot in 2015 8D

Saw the kid's film for the first time. Wow. Kid was made to run out of a zone read system and will thrive in an NFL zone blocking scheme in the future. I don't think scUM's offense with a FB lead would be the best for him. He needs to pick his hole and make his cuts and go. He may be unhappy about Drayton but he did pick the better system and better overall coaching staff.

I do feel a bit bad for the kid but he will get over it and will thrive. I doubt he'll care much in a few years when his name is brought up in Heisman discussions and scUM is still in a rebuild phase (if you can call it that after a couple decades).
