From a football standpoint, I'd hardly call that benefiting, especially since Mo Wells' ran for 171 yards on 46 carries in 12 games played this year. The only possible benefit that JaJa may have gained from transfering is that he may have been more comfortable and had a better student experience at UNLV as opposed to TOSU, and you'd have to ask him that. Otherwise, there was no clear benefit from what we can see. Plus, in hindsight you have to think that JaJa was lucky to get a schollie from UNLV (actually, I don't even know that he did). That's my point, Mo may have a hard time finding a schollie at a program worth going to.
:pimp:
JaJa's problem wasn't his athletic abilities. it was between his ears. i used to work with a guy who played for UNLV, and he is still pretty tuned into the program. he said that JaJa had all the tools, but was soft...

While I know there aren't many Mo Wells fans, I for one am a little relieved and happy to hear this. If notthing else, he brings back experience on offense. Also, next year with a true power back, Mo Wells might be able to find his way into the offense as change of pace back. Either way, it will be nice to have experience in the backfield next year.

I got this from another board, and I liked it. Start in the I formation with Beanie at FB and either Wells or Saine at the RB spot. Then go in motion and move the RB out to the slot and send Beanie back to the RB spot.

Is this a legal shift?

As long as they both get set and hold 1 sec before the snap.

Arkansas did similar things...as did UF. If a coach wants to get kids on the field, there are limitless options to do so.

IMO I don't think they'll do anything different with him... I WISH THEY WOULD. I mean don't get me wrong you have to keep defenses honest because if they only use him for stretch plays and the sort they'll know whats coming, but I don't think they've put maurice in a position to succeed so far since he's been here. He's had a couple good games and ALL of his success has come on draws and misdirections so why not do that more with him? Especially when you have Beanie/Saine/Boom who I think are more physical between the tackles.

I mean even though we haven't seen it yet, he does have the best Juke and Jive out of the running backs. I always see the coaches say they tailor the team to the strengths so why not utilize this guy? I don't have a problem with how they use any other player besides Mo Wells. We just barely see him in open space. Its always 2 yards and he gets tackled in a mass of people. Well hopefully MoW will get his chance! GO BUCKS

The fact that he is staying tells me that he will be used differently. If the staff told him it would be the same ol' he would have bolted. I think with Pitt gone, he is going to have a real opportunity to show what he can do. Frankly, I think that he will be needed while the others get thier feet wet. Glad to see he's staying.

Re: MoWells running between tackles

They don't run MoWells to the outside because he doesn't have the speed to get to the outside. MoWells is quick, but he really isn't that fast. To get him in space to the outside, he needs to be split wide or in the slot. He isn't going to take a hand-off in the I formation and beat the DE, OLB and CB around the end unless it's a flawlessly executed misdirection.

Uh, wrong. I've seen him get to the outside plenty of times for good gains, when the play starts out that way. There have been times when he'll try to bounce it outside when the middle is clogged and by then it's too late, but when they send him wide from the git-go and the blocking is at least decent, he gets good yardage. He's also has a few big runs up the gut, but that's only when there's a hole in the line big enough for an M-1 Abram to go through...

I'm very glad he's stayin!! I've been waiting for him to break it lose for us in S&G.. Thats true, he's not really that fast. We need to get him space and also something like draws and stretch plays were he can use his scat abilities and cut it against the grain. He may not be a blazer straight forward but as far as stop and go and moves he's got good stuff. Again though, we just haven't gotten to see it because the lack of play calling for the young guy. Not to mention we had pittman/wells back there last year infront of him. I'm rooting for Wells, and hopefully he comes in and gives us 500-600 yards or so like Chris did for us last year, and throw in a couple scores would be nice! GO BUCKS!
