RB Maurice Wells (Official Thread)

If he's publicly talking about a transfer days before the National Championship, then send him home to think about it. Him being there doesn't seem to serve any purpose other than to cause a distraction to his teammates. Tress seems to go out of his way to find the 85 who absolutely want to be Buckeyes, so if someone doesn't want to be there they should send him home.

It does seem odd, though, to transfer if Pitt does indeed go to the NFL. His confidence must be pretty shot if he doesn't want to be one of two returning tailbacks on the roster.

I agree 100%. MoWells' actions are nothing more than a very selfish distraction to the team. I am disappointed that he doesn't have the decency to delay his comments until after the NC game.

Come on. Don't be harsh to the kid. He answered specific questions on media day when players are supposed to make themselves available to reporters.

Strange things happen in bowl games. Who knows, Mo Wells may end up making a big play in the game and then decide to stay on.

Let's not go overboard here fellas...... The kid probably was asked this question by a local reporter (Tim May) who was basing it off of the rumors floating around. I give him credit for speaking the truth about the situation. If something as petty as Wells talking to a local reporter is a distraction to the them then OSU is in trouble on Monday. I'd wager that most of the team already knows what he is going to do, so it's not any kind of surprise to them......or the coaches.

Let's not use this as an opportunity to bash the kid just because his career at OSU hasn't went as planned. He's obviously a hell of a talent, more talented than about anyone on this board for the most part, so who is anyone to judge? Unfortunately for him he's behind a couple of early round NFL draft picks at the moment, it's just the nature of the beast at OSU right now. Life is full of tough decisions, he's got to decide where he has the best shot of playing. I wish him the best of luck with whatever he decides.

Last year, Mo was #2 on the DC. This year, anyone but Pittman would have slipped behind Beanie.

He took a huge leap of faith by coming here from Jacksonville because he felt it was the best thing for him. Many top rated players start to feel the way Mo is right now. Unsure of his decision, himself, and many other things. The only one who can work it out is Maurice himself.

After the title game is the time to approach this. I have a feeling that if Pittman leaves, coach Tressel will be able to convince him to stay. He needs more touches.

I appreciate his honesty but what is his mindset going into this game is he 100% prepared and committed to this University. I know its hard for young men who were stars in HS to believe there are more talented players than them. Mo can be effective here as a Niche player, he never will be "the Man" even Pitman has had to share time with Beanie. The talent in HS in Ohio cannot be denied, and could be a reason why somw OOS talent has taken a second look and went elsewhere, like Barksdale, etc.

Ordinarily, I would want a kid to suck it up, work harder, and make it so that the coaches can't keep him off the field. But as I said when Mo was being recruited, he isn't your typical Big Ten back size wise. He could work his tail off night and day, and I don't think he is the type of back who will be the every down guy at tOSU.

When this kid gets in space, he is pretty darned explosive. But running him between the tackles is not going to show his talent or move the chain consistantly.

I think he needs to decide if he can be compfortable in a slot type role. I would love to see him used somewhat like Reggie Bush was. If he can accept that, I think he could be very productive here.

So every article ever published is 100% truth and never misrepresents things? OK then.

If he transfers, that confirms it. Otherwise, stating he should be sent home because an article says he's thinking about a transfer is a disservice a member of the #1 ranked, playing for a NC Ohio State Buckeyes.

No, there was a lot of speculation going on for the last two months...the article just confirmed it.

Ok, let me break this down. For a couple of months, there has been speculation that Mo Wells was considering transfering. That article (with direct quotes from Mo about transfering) confirms that he is considering it.

Ok, I'll be done with this to avoid a pissing match on here. If you look at all of my posts above, not once did I say a bad word about him or that he should be sent home...you may want to direct that to the appropriate poster.
