Looks that way in Columbus, but we're a little biased here.

Can't wait for Mr. Berry to step on campus and get some time on the field. You have me unbelievably pumped for this kid. Thanks for the updates.

Actually looks that way down here in South Florida. I know a lot of UM (that's University of Miami, not scUM) fans that can't believe how the Buckeyes get on national tv down here in Miami virtually every week. Sometimes Hurricane games come on ESPNU and not a major network channel here in Miami. That's just how much coverage OSU gets.

It's great, because it gives potential recruits down here a chance to see OSU.

BTW, of course yours truly will be at Friday night's game with Berry and Palmetto vs. Killian.

The season ended sadly for Palmetto and Jaamal Berry with a 27-6 loss to Lamar Miller and Killian. I have to say in all of my years of watching football I've never seen such a poorly officiated game. Regardless, Killian shouldn't be able to get by Northwestern or Central high school next week. They won't get such help from the zebras next week. The game should have been about 10 points closer than the final score shows.

Berry's numbers were 140 yards on 20 carries, for a 7 yard average. Palmetto got him going a little too late as they ran their unorthodox attack for about 2 series before finally letting Berry run the show. By then Killian was up 14-0 and the 1st quarter was gone.

Berry did an excellent job running out of a Wildcat formation, something that Lamar Miller couldn't do, despite Miller running for 202 yards on 24 carries, an 8.4 yard average and scoring 3 TDs. Miller's running was straight around the ends, something Palmetto's defense had a hard time countering. I counted about 7 plays that Berry ran out of Wildcat formation.

Similar to last week, Berry bolted straight off the outside of the guards or off center and seemed to have a lot of 5+ yard carries. He did catch one screen pass (actually his first touch on the ball) for a first down, 10+ yard catch.

Actually, on account of the Miami Herald, we have to adjust those numbers slighty. The North Miami Beach game wasn't reported properly, where he had 55 yards on 8 carries, that was his first game back. That means 655 yards on 92 carries, thus 7.12 yards.

So what was up with the officiating?

I live in florida as well and the officiating i've seen all season has been horrible, and it's not just the away team getting screwed, it seems to be the underdog or whoever is losing at the time . It seems like they want all close games and upsets. Very very poor imo.

It was pretty bad. There were A LOT of blocks in the backs leveled by the Killian offensive lineman on the Palmetto defenders. There was a fumble that was plain as day recovered by Palmetto, but the refs claimed they had blown the whistle, but the ball carrier was still in forward motion. Now it runs both ways. Palmetto ran a few guys in motion (basically a guy in the backfield taking a step and then going to the sidelines) and the guy would basically take 2-3 steps forward and then go to the sideline (it wasn't Berry though) and that got called only once, but Palmetto did do it quite a bit. However, the blocks in the back were pretty blatant and in other games I have seen this year, it's called.

There was a coach from Northwestern high school sitting near me (they won the following night against Central) and will play Killian next week and he echoed my comments as he was scouting the game. It seems like there was also a lot of holding by the offensive linemen but rarely called. He prayed he didn't get this group of officials for this Friday's game (I will be there). However, as I said the game should have been closer, though I think Killian still might have snuck by as Palmetto had about 6 starters out, especially on the offensive line.,

Killian almost lost the preceding week to a surprising Sunset team that had Killian on the ropes but had two bad calls that went against them and Killian won.

Bigblueheart, it's quite true about Florida. Even Killian's own coach came out in the Miami Herald and said after a close loss up at Lakeland, a 5A power, "When we came here, we knew we were going to battle a great football team, the town and possibly the officiating," Smith said. see, High School Sports - MiamiHerald.com
