RB Jaamal Berry (Transfer to Murray State)

The thing on pass protection for Berry goes back to that video I showed of his QB at Palmetto, Karpiak, there was really no reason for him to do pass protection, because that QB would literally take off running and hardly ever sat in the pocket for longer than a second without throwing it. However, Berry was quite effective at throwing a downfield block for his QB. Moreover, he has enough upper body strength to give Pryor a good block if needed. I've seen plenty a pop put by Berry on opposing defenses (but that kind of stuff doesn't make the highlight reel).

Like BKB pointed out, saying a frosh RB needs to work on pass pro is a throw-away. Its like being in an interview and saying that you sometimes try TOO hard or care TOO much.

I have heard nothing to the contrary down here about him going elsewhere.

What.....no comments on his game performance last night...from you, the quintessential Berry fan, and certainly my go to guy on the subject, or anybody else either? Wow, I could never have imagined logging on to BP this AM and NOT seeing at least some bit of breakdown on him in the game.

I didn't get a chance to watch, pulled a bonehead and forgot to record. A friend was watching but I can't count on him cause he only cares about the USC boys, of course, and all he said was that he didn't think Jaamal played very much. Anything, please?? Thanks.

Jaamal rotated in with several other backs. When they called his number in the first half, he looked good. Didn't see too much of the second half.

I posted them in the UA thread, but as mross34 mentioned he didn't get much playing time. He had a fumble on the last possession he got in after get hit once...then twice right in the ribs, but got up without issue.

He had at least two good carries that I saw, one that went 20+ on a pass (I had somewhat of an emergency to attend to last night) up the side where he went past a few ball carries. That's the Berry I know.

I made the comment that I think that Pryor should be throwing some screens to Berry as he is a hidden weapon and should be used accordingly as when he gets going...that upper body strength turns into a bowling ball. He's one of the most built-up guys on the upper end that I have seen for someone his size and weight.
