NFL combine notebook: Herron shares his side
Tailback from Ohio State prepared for questions about his suspension
By Bill Rabinowitz
The Columbus Dispatch Saturday February 25, 2012
INDIANAPOLIS ? Daniel Herron knows the questions are inevitable, but it doesn?t faze him.
The Ohio State running back understands that answering queries from NFL teams about having to sit out six games last season because of NCAA violations is part of the drill at this weekend?s NFL combine.
?They haven?t grilled me too much, actually,? Herron said yesterday. ?Obviously, the question comes up, and they want to hear my side of the story. I don?t have any problem telling that story. I?ve told it a million times, so it?s kind of easy to do.?
Despite missing half of the regular season, Herron impressed enough with his play and leadership to be named the Buckeyes? Most Valuable Player.
?I learned a lot from my suspension,? he said. ?When I came back, I tried to do my best and help the team out. Obviously, we didn?t finish the way we wanted to. But we did a pretty good job of keeping the team together.?
Now he?s ready for the next chapter. Herron is projected as a mid-round pick. Scouts like his toughness between the tackles, but question his raw speed. At 5 feet 91/2 and 213 pounds, teams might consider him a bit undersized for every-down duty.
?I feel I can fit into pretty much any offense,? Herron said. ?I love running the ball and I love catching the ball out of the backfield. I?m up for any offense that comes my way.?
Visiting with Browns: Some prospects who have said they had meetings with the Browns -- in addition to Luck, Griffin and Texas A&M QB Ryan Tannehill -- include Baylor receiver Kendall Wright, the second-ranked receiver in the draft, running back Trent Richardson, the top at his position, and Ohio State running back Daniel "Boom" Herron. Herron said his favorite running back is Jim Brown.

First attempt at 4.68 =/
Side note: Heard one of the commentators say,"You'd think some of these Ohio State kids would wear some long sleeves, so they wouldn't remind some of these scouts why they got suspended." You can tell he didn't do his research on the kid because he saw his tattoo on his should, which says Boom, and he asks,"It says boom on his shoulder?" DO YOUR HOMEWORK JACK ASS.
Really..... really.....

Rookie;2115162; said:Wow, he's spewing Ohio State hate continuously throughout the broadcast. I wanted to smack him, and now that I know he went to scUM I want to kill him.......

Eh, wasn't really offended at all by Eisen's comments, even thought it was sort of funny. He always seems to make comments on Ohio State guys at the combine, and a lot of times it's positive.
y0yoyoin;2115181; said:i wasnt offended either...if i was herron i would be embarrassed and wear long sleeves also...its a reminder of what he was apart of that was in conjunction with costing JT his job and the university a bowl ban and probation...and he will be wearing that reminder for the rest of his life...Eisen is just pointing out the obvious and is willing to speak out about it...whatever
