RB Daniel "Boom" Herron (Official Thread)

True enough, but I'm struggling to find the relevancy here. Herron will play on Sundays.

First, let me say that I LOVE the way Herron runs. He's always darting back into the middle of the field rather than letting the sidelines tackle him. SOOO fun to watch that weaving he does.

Having saidt that, I'm just not sure if he's Sunday good. He's quick, great vision, shifty. But neither big nor particularly fast. Tough runner but again, not sure if that's enough for him to make the league. Would LOVE to be wrong.

Fred Jackson, Frank Gore, MJ Drew, Matt Forte and a lot of "dime a dozen" RBs think that being quick and shifty with great vision and toughness is good enough, even if you're not 220+ and run a 4.4 40.

Ohio State football: Team MVP Herron a source of leadership
By Bill Rabinowitz
The Columbus Dispatch Saturday December 24, 2011

Even when he was in the shadows, a player doing his penance with little outward reward, Daniel Herron created an impression with his teammates that would result in a surprising award.

The player known as ?Boom? was silent for Ohio State?s first six games. He was one of four (excluding the departed Terrelle Pryor) who served a five-game suspension for his part in the tattoo-and-memorabilia scandal.

Herron then had another one-game suspension tacked on for being overpaid for part-time work he did for now-disassociated booster Bobby DiGeronimo.

But when Herron returned, he did so with a bang befitting his nickname. Playing in Ohio State?s final six games, Herron did enough on and off the field to be voted by his teammates as the team?s Most Valuable Player.

The honor seemed to take Herron by surprise.

?The players voted for it,? Herron said earlier this week as Ohio State prepared for Florida in the Gator Bowl on Jan. 2. ?I guess they felt I had great leadership and (played well) when I came back. I was very thankful for it, that my teammates looked at me as a great player.?

None of them fall into that category. Gore was blazing fast before his injuries and even after. Drew has incredible strength, quickness, and a low center of gravity. Forte and Jackson are 6'+ 210+.

I like Boom a lot but I don't see NFL starter material when watching him. If he avoids injuries, I can see him sticking around for a while. A Maurice Morris type career would be nice.

Senior Bowl: Three Ohio State players are expected to play in the Senior Bowl, according to someone with knowledge of the invites. Tackle Mike Adams, running back Dan Herron and center Mike Brewster should represent the Buckeyes in the most high-profile postseason all-star game, which allows players a week of practice in front of NFL talent evaluators.

In rankings of NFL prospects from NFLDraftScout.com, Adams was No. 51, Brewster No. 104, Posey No. 107 and Herron No. 125.

The Senior Bowl will be played on Jan. 28 in Mobile, Ala., at 4 p.m

Reports surfaced that Ohio State will be sending RB Dan Herron, LT Mike Adams, and C Mike Brewster to Mobile, Ala., later this month, as they had accepted invitations to the Senior Bowl. I have since spoken with Buckeye Sports Information Directors for football Jerry Emig. He had no knowledge of any of them accepting invites, but admitted that these are things he sometimes deals with on the back end. And to be honest, it's true. As a high-profile university?s sports information director your job is to deal with the tough stuff, not the nice invitation processes.
