RB Daniel "Boom" Herron (Official Thread)

Dan and Mike did the right things during and since their suspensions..I was unhappy with them both...but they have really impressed me with their actions...Actions speak louder than words..thats what second chances are for.

I believe the character of a man really shows most when your back is against the wall. Hearing how he's helped keep this team together and how he's leading on and off the field...and the emotion he showed Sat night...I'm proud to call him a Buckeye. He's making the most of his second chance.

I know this video was posted in the game thread...but just look at Boom at the end of the video...love this kid! Go Bucks!

Ohio State football: Emotional Herron on a rush
Running back piles up yardage upon return from suspensions
By Tim May
The Columbus Dispatch Friday November 4, 2011

Three weeks ago, Daniel Herron was just glad to be back on the football field for Ohio State. But last week, in the first home game of the running back?s suspension-abbreviated senior season, the emotions were altogether different.

Herron wept as the national anthem was played. When he joined the other game captains on the walk to midfield for the coin toss, he locked arms like he was about to play a game of Red Rover.

Then, when he was handed the ball a career-high 33 times against Wisconsin in the most critical game to date for the Buckeyes in this maelstrom of a season, he ripped off 160 yards. Later, he questioned whether he could have gained more in OSU?s upset victory.

?I want to do all I can for my team,? Herron said this week. ?I don?t want to hold anything back.?

Not even the tears, if he feels like crying. And he said it might happen again on Saturday when the Buckeyes play host to Indiana. After all, it will be his next-to-last game in the Horseshoe. As for last week, he knew the tears were coming.

?I was just happy to be back out there and have the opportunity to play with my teammates,? Herron said.

I said it before, I'll say it again - best running back in the B1G.

I believe it was McShay or Helmet-hair at ESPN who said Herron would be the third RB off the board in the upcoming draft. Kudos to whoever wrote that.

Again, another Ohio kid who only wanted to play for OSU. Rivals/Scout rankings be damned, when you get these kids in here they'll bust their ass for the team. He's been a joy to watch here; he can be proud of what he's accomplished.

Still alot yet to go, Boom!

Boom ran it 14 times for 148 yards today against Indiana. That's over 10 YPC...not too shabby. Glad to see this guy back!

What's his average per game? Theoretically, he could play 8 games this year. At 125 per game, he could get to 1,000 yards. Has a running back at Ohio State ever gotten to 1,000 yards after missing the first 6 games?

3 Games
415 Yards
138.33 YPG

If the Buckeyes got 5 more games (B1G CG, Bowl Game), that average would put him over 1100 yards. :yow1:

Would need to average 146.25 per game to get to 1000 yards if the Bucks don't make the Championship Game (4 games). Just 117 YPG if they do make it (5 games) to reach 1000 yards.
