RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

The thing I really like about Beanie is that he has been running behind a very poor offensive line for his career. That means he has really had to have good vision and moves to put up the numbers that he did.

He is also a lot faster than MoC so when he busts through a hole he has the chance to take it the distance. He was already working out with Butch Renoylds so when he reunites with him, it will only help him.

I think he is farther along, the only weakness I see is being able to pick up the blitz package, but we could always throw Mo Wells in there or put Pittman back in.

Physically he is stronger and in my opinion, more gifted.

Disagree here. MoC was a physical freak. 700+ lb squat as an 18 year old.

Duane Long did a good evaluation between the two a while back. He said MoC was a workaholic when he got to tOSU and his vision is unmatched by any back he'd ever seen. He did say CW is probably a little faster and of course the mental aspect is no comparison. However, he said overall, he though MoC was a better HS back, but also realized that Mo had much more help around him.

I'm not so sure Mo would be our best option to put in simply to pick up a blitz.
mo wells saw the field b/c he could pick up a blitz. Pittman would be better probably, but tressel and others have raved about MW's blocking (esp for a little guy). Watch the teddy ginn TD vs. Miami, he blocks an untouched DE, IIRC.

I watched one of his games on ONN earlier this year. His team was terrible. He had absolutly no help and pretty much took a beating but he pounded the ball down the opposing teams throught.

I am so stoked about this kid being a Buckeye next year. Yes, we are losing some critical seniors this year but with all the talent we have on the team, plus most of our unit will be back, we really should start off next season at the same level we are playing at right now.

Anyone who watched the Texas - aTm game yesterday should be salivating at the thought of having big Chris Wells up to speed by week 2 next season.

aTm pounded the ball through the Texas defense by using a mobile quarterback, a normal runningback, and most importantly a big bruising runningback. The big bruising back softened up their linemen and linebackers, and really helped out their running attack in all phases. aTm's yards came almost entirely on the ground yesterday.

If Chris does enroll early and picks up the offense well, it will be a huge benefit to us in Austin in my opinion.

great point JC. I thought the same thing as their bruiser broke tackle after tackle against Texas. That is the senior-laden version of their defense, and clearly they were quite vulnerable at times to much lesser talent.

280 yards on the ground for aTm. 104 by their biggest back (Jorvorskie Lane).
