RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

Did you watch the game? Not Beanie's finest moments.. dropped on a ball on a third down early, was unaware he was supposed to be on the field during a fourth down play which ended up being rushed an failing because he was late getting back on the field... Not to mention his vision just isn't there right now.. He's missing holes and not looking like the same back we saw at OSU or last season.. I've been advocating for him to get in there and play more, but after today he quite frankly isn't playing well enough to make me feel he's any better than Hightower or Stephens-Howling
You forgot to mention that he is a horrible pass-protecting back and got Max Hall lit up on his first INT. I love Beanie, but he needs to get it together mentally.

It doesn't matter what the Cardinals do with Beanie, people are going to say it's wrong until he's getting 100+ yards per game. He wasn't awesome tonight, unfortunately. As someone else mentioned, Hightower is better receiving out of the backfield and they might still trust him more in pass protection.

I don't see a problem with throwing at the end of the game, either.

Hightower is considered to be the better receiving back, something that I'm not going to argue against quite frankly. They were in a passing situation, DA simply made an ill advised throw but up until then, they were moving the ball just fine without Beanie.

3 minutes with 2 timeouts and the 2 minute warning and 40 yards to drive to be in field goal position doesn't exactly scream passing situation to me.

Granted the game wasn't viewable for me until late in the game so I don't know the full limits of their rushing attack this game.

Take away one big run and the Cards were just over 3 YPC running the ball. They were having more success throwing, the issue was that they were throwing stupid picks. That happens when you have Derek Anderson and an undrafted rookie. But I don't think they were going to win the game by running. They need to throw in that offense to be successful imo.

If we really want to yell at them for not running we should do it on the drive where they were already in field goal range and Anderson threw the pick trying to force it into Fitz. I don't have a problem with the way they ran the final drive.

I do have a problem with how they ran the final drive. You had to throw it to get into FG range, but after you're there throwing with DA is a terrible idea. He has thrown more costly picks in his career than he's thrown important touchdowns.

I have a problem with how bad Derek Anderson is, but I don't have a problem with their final drive. They had WRs open all night. The QBs just suck. If you have WRs open and you aren't running well consistently, you pretty much have to throw. You just have to pray that the QB doesn't do something stupid, which ended up happening. Anderson was going to have to make some big throws at some point anyways.

Arizona Cardinals' Beanie Wells remains iffy for Sunday
by Kent Somers - Nov. 4, 2010
The Arizona Republic

Running back Beanie Wells missed part of a second consecutive day of practice on Thursday because of a reaction to an injection he received in his right knee earlier in the week.

Wells, who underwent knee surgery in September, received an injection of Orthovisc, which is designed to provide lubrication in the joint, coach Ken Whisenhunt said.

"Very, very seldom do you have a reaction like he did," Whisenhunt said. "So there is really nothing wrong with his knee. It's just about getting the swelling out."

On Thursday, Wells said his knee felt better and that he was hopeful of practicing Friday and playing Sunday against the Vikings.

"We were just going to try something new and it backfired," Wells said.

Wells started his first NFL game last Sunday and was expected to start against the Vikings. But he experienced swelling in the knee after an injection Monday and was listed as "limited" after the past two practices.

Wells said he is confident he could practice today and then "fully execute the game plan," he said. "You want to go out there and play full speed, not swelling up to where I can't bend my knee."

Whisenhunt said Wells needs to practice "a little more tomorrow (Friday) in order to make us feel more comfortable about him playing."

Arizona's Beanie Wells says he will play Sunday

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -Arizona Cardinals running back Beanie Wells told reporters on Friday that he will play Sunday against the Vikings in Minnesota.

Wells has been limited in practice all week after an allergic reaction to Orthovisc that was injected as a lubricant intended to ease discomfort in his right knee.

After Wells practiced more Friday than he had all week, coach Ken Whisenhunt said that as long as there are no swelling problems Saturday, the running back should be able to play Sunday.

The knee swelled up immediately after the injection and had limited him practice Wednesday and Thursday. The second-year pro from Ohio State missed the first two games of the season after injuring the knee in the final pre-season game, requiring arthroscopic surgery.

Wells got his first NFL start last Sunday in a 38-35 loss to Tampa Bay.

Beanie will play

Arizona Cardinals update:

Running back Beanie Wells is active today, but it will be interesting to see how much he plays and in what role. Wells missed a good portion of Wednesday and Thursday practices, key workouts for a second-year player. It's possible that Tim Hightower could start, while Wells could play a specific role. That's just conjecture, however.
