Whisenhunt said the reason RB Beanie Wells didn?t play a lot Sunday was a lack of practice time. ?The way the game went, with the offensive packages we were using to attack those guys, Beanie just hadn?t had a lot of reps on,? Whisenhunt said. ?That was what it was about more than anything. Hopefully he won?t have any issues this week. I think if the game had gone differently and we had been able to run the ball a bit better later in the game, we would have used the packages he was comfortable with and we would have seen more time with him.?

All I'm stating is IMHO the Cardinals should be running more, especially when you are trying to close a game out at the end. I sometimes think that Wisenhunt thinks that AndersonHall can be Warner. If they were running more, there would obviously be more touches for both Beanie and Hightower and they could be a very formidable combination.
I think we have also seen that Beanie get stronger as games go on and he gets more carries.
Buckeyecty4;1808051; said:They can't run.. They have a pedestrian Oline, and if you watch the games, the defenses have no respect for Anderson/Hall, so they crowd the box.
They tried to run out the clock vs Minnesota and kept getting nailed at the LOS.
Beanie's mental errors and the fact he is showing no patience/balance in his runs is what's costing him playing time. He even admitted the other day, he's not going down way too easy from contact and running too upright.
He flat out has not been impressive this season, after what I thought was a strong rookie season.
Some of it's the injuries, some of it is the Oline, some of it is the mental miscues he seems to make 1-2 times a game, some of it's the crowded box, and some of it is Beanie just not executing... Some of those things he has no control over, but I'd be in his corner much more if he eliminated the stuff he can control, like pass pro, catching balls that hit his hands, and not missing holes.
Hopefully, he can break out one of these weeks
buckeyebri;1808115; said:Agreed, and on top of it, this offense is not built for a back like Beanie. Hell, the offense with Warner wasn't built for a back like Beanie, which is why I never understood why the Cards drafted him.

What to expect on Beanie Wells front

Beanie Wells carried only once against the Minnesota Vikings after knee swelling caused him to miss practice time during the week.
I'm expecting Wells to play considerably more against Seattle in Week 10. The reasons:
* The knee swelling stemmed from a rare and unexpected allergic reaction to medication. The team should be able to avoid a similar reaction this week by adjusting treatment.
* Game situations should be more favorable at home against Seattle than they were on the road against the Vikings. The Seahawks' defensive line remains depleted by injuries. Playing at home should also make the Cardinals more comfortable putting the still relatively inexperienced Wells on the field in situations where communication can be key.
* Wells' light workload against the Vikings gave his surgically repaired knee additional time to recover.
* Wells' replacement, Tim Hightower, has had fumbling problems this season. Hightower dropped a third-and-10 pass in overtime when a reception might have produced a significant gain.
Coach Ken Whisenhunt addressed Wells' situation during his news conference Monday.
"He didn?t get a lot of practice during the week, and the way the game went, some of the offensive packages that we were using to attack those guys because of the way they were playing us defensively, Beanie just hadn?t had a lot of reps on," Whisenhunt said. "Had the game gone differently, had we been able to run the ball a little bit better later in the game, then some of those packages that I think Beanie was comfortable with, he would have seen more time from it."
Beanie Wells Watch Wednesday
AUTHOR: Scott Allen
Last week, Arizona Cardinals running back Beanie Wells was limited in practice due to swelling in his knee. He ended up being limited in Wednesday and Thursday practices last week before participating on Friday. Then coach Ken Whisenhunt kept Wells active for Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings, yet Wells only carried the ball once for -2 yards.
So, that had me waiting to find out what Beanie Wells would do in today's first practice of the week, had many of us waiting I'm sure. So what was the news on Wells today? Yeah, he didn't practice. More swelling in the knee apparently. Whisenhunt has a policy of don't practice, don't play. I have no issue with that. However why was Wells active last Sunday? Still boggles the mind.
Now that Wells has failed to participate in the first practice of the week as the Cardinals get ready to face the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday in Glendale, it makes you wonder, how will the soap opera end this week? In my opinion, if Wells is limited all week or does not participate, just inactivate him and allow someone else to take up the roster spot for the game.
Wells' knee has been an ongoing saga. This was the issue I had with the Cards drafting him in the first place. He had injury issues at Ohio State, although he only missed three games in his career at OSU. However Wells has looked great when given the chance to play.
My only issue is this now. If Wells is not healthy, then don't drag it out. Just tell us he is being sat for the game. I realize for the sake of the opponent you don't want to tip your hand too much, but it can't be for a lack of productivity when he is out there, can it? granted, Tim Hightower managed to make it through the Vikings game without putting the ball on the ground, but Wells deserves to play if he can.
We'll see what happens tomorrow and Friday but I'm not holding my breath on his chances to play.
Arizona Cardinals' Beanie Wells still a question mark

Arizona Cardinals running back Beanie Wells practiced Friday for the first time this week, but his role in Sunday's game is in question.
Wells missed two days of practice last week and barely played against the Minnesota Vikings. His practice schedule has been the same this week, but he might be more likely to play because coaches have pared the scope of the run game for Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks.
"He's a lot more comfortable with what we've got in," coach Ken Whisenhunt said. "Hopefully, that will allow us to play him some in that role if we get the opportunity."
Beanie Wells (knee) is inactive for Week 10 against the Seahawks.
Still bothered by swelling in his knee, Wells wasn't going to have a big offensive role regardless. Since he doesn't play special teams, the Cardinals opted to have another play active for this week's game. Tim Hightower will start once again with LaRod Stephens-Howling working in a change-of-pace role.
