RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

Someone else kind of mentioned this..

If he were medically cleared to play, you'd think his injury could not be made worse. So hopefully he was medically cleared to play. I really don't like our chances without Beanie. He's the focal point of our offense. He's why most of us think we have such a good shot at winning it all this year. He's the freakin' man. Our team changes a lot without him. I like our backups a lot, but none of them can replace Beanie. He's irreplaceable.

It would be sweet if Tressel just happened to be getting tricky. But that's not Tressel. :tongue2:

I was thinking about that. A Heisman trophy candidate and especially the winner should be someone that a team absolutely needs to be as successful as they can. Dennis Dixon comes to mind...Oregon was on a rampage and the second Dixon went down, the team did a 180. I really hope that wouldn't be what happens here and I am going to pull for the rest of our guys and have faith in them, but if Beanie is a legit future Heisman winner, it would be tough to pull of without him. Shoot, it would be hard with him. I gotta agree with everything you said.

I've got my fingers and toes crossed for the Bucks and especially for Beanie. This is all too reminiscent of Keith Byars. But the second he went down I was sure it was going to be for a significant amount of time. As an old track coach I'm way too familar with how seemingly small injuries take forever to heal. The only answer is rest. What we don't want is to do anything that puts this young man's future in jeapordy.

It would be nice to beat USC, but not at Beanie's expense.

I must agree, but it's hard to hold a race horse back. Let's beat them with the team on the field. But it would be great to see him run a few plays if he can. This would be a huge lift to the team and the fans if he did.

DISCLAIMER: Please Mods, Sr. Mods, and Admins., i post this here because everyone is worried about #28. Move this to the appropriate thread, or start one if that's the case. Hurricane Ike is about to F our country up.

Local Weather Alert for Galveston, TX - weather.com

Times like this, football is merely a child's game. I hope our country avoids the big one this time.

You're probably right but Ike is coming straight at me right now (Houston) and I'm still more worried about Beanie's toe. Go Bucks! :osu:

Anyone ever think its a front? That the Senator is just making USC prepare for more than just Beanie?

My buddy's g/f lives in the same apt complex as[SIZE=-1] Boeckman, and he said he was fine to play last game. It's in his head.

Regardless Pryor should play to throw USC off even more.

Seems like the Buckeyes are playing off the Beanie roll right now. I think that they plan to make his comeback seem murky up until about gametime on Sat. At that point he will be introduced as the starter, a Jim Tressel attempt at firing the squad up.......and getting a cocky USC team to be a bit more nervous. After that point he will have a heisman type of day, dealing up over 180 yards. This will swing him to the forefront of the heisman discussion, with his team on his shoulders........eating up the headlines like he eats up the yardage this season. Vince Young cemented his legendary status one warm Sept. evening in Ohio stadium. He was one of the last to knock off USC in a big game. Now, the two dynasties have regrown, into two of the best in the land. Will Beanie start the quest towards greatness this week? I've got a hunch that he just may.........:osu: :wink2:

You hate to quote yourself, but I still stand by my boast.

Musberger on ESPN thinks Beanie plays and that JT meant that if the game were being played today Beanie would be doubtful.

Bingo.

It's now a game time decision according to Brent Musburger per espn.

...Which is what it's really been all along - when he was a "go" and when he was called "doubtful". This drama is the result of Tressel being candid about Wells' status AT THE MOMENT, and the media interpreting that status as a prognosis. I think when Tressel has spoken so far, he has been talking about where things stand that day, not where he thinks they may stand on Saturday. They'll make that determination when that time comes. Meanwhile, we have people blowing this way out of proportion to get ratings and sell newspapers.

Beanie did not go down, giving up the ball and not even going after it, because of a "small" injury. He grabbed his foot even before the play was whistled dead and he had to be helped off the field, unable to put pressure on his foot. That, folks, is a serious injury.

You'd expect him in a cast and on crutches if it were a serious injury, yes?

I'm sure it is pretty serious. But I also think a lot of his initial reaction was just the fear of thinking he was injured badly. I think it was Wilson that said that next day that he was trying to help Beanie calm down because he was freaking a little.

Anyway, I think we all know what a warrior Beanie is. So, like everyone else, I'm very positive that Beanie plays.
