RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

I've got my fingers and toes crossed for the Bucks and especially for Beanie. This is all too reminiscent of Keith Byars. But the second he went down I was sure it was going to be for a significant amount of time. As an old track coach I'm way too familar with how seemingly small injuries take forever to heal. The only answer is rest. What we don't want is to do anything that puts this young man's future in jeapordy.

It would be nice to beat USC, but not at Beanie's expense.

If you go back and listen to the question from the reporter where the "doubtful" status originated from, it brings up an interesting question.

Reporter: Are you listing him as doubtful or probable?
Tressel: I'm listing him as doubtful.

If the reporter had included questionable in his question, would all of today's headlines have been different?

This is a great point - one I've thought of since I heard the interview. The reporter didn't give him much to work with. And then everyone took the quote and ran. Gotta love the media.

I'm getting tired of the media blowing Beanie's injury way out of context. Beannie is a Buckeye and I sure hope he plays and does some damage with his running back skills and shuts the haters of ESPN up.

Michigan Sucks and so does USC!

GO BUCKS:osu:

All I want to see if Beanie in uniform on Saturday night while being at least 90% healthy and ready to go.

I hope this "soreness" is just from not practicing for weeks. Also, if he managed to play through a bum ankle and a chipped bone in his wrist, he should be able to be in for plenty of plays with a numb toe.

If his injury is much more severe than everyone thinks, then he should sit out and rest up for his own good. Granted, I'll be very disappointed, but what can we do about it? It's not his fault.

Let's just support the Buckeyes as usual, with or without Beanie. Who knows...maybe the ball will roll OSU's way.

Next (loaded) question:

Beanie Wells: Bad mofo, or BADDEST mofo?

The problem is not the way the reporter asked the question.

The problem is that we all need lives.

Lol. My opinion is that if he feels ready to go, give him a chance. If he is willing to risk possibly re-injuring the foot, then let him. I don't mean this spitefully at all, I just think that the stakes are so high in this game that if there is a chance he can be effective, take it if he is willing. If we lose this game and would win out, two 4 loss SEC teams would make it to the NC game before we would. I really think Beanie needs to do what he feels best and I absolutely hope it doesn't jeopardize his season should he play. However, I can understand it if he isn't 100% and he plays, given how big this game is. To me, this is the national championship game, the only way to prove we can hang with the elite teams across the country, the USC's and SEC champion types of college football. Winning a Big 10 title, beating Wisconsin and Illinois, it won't cut it this year. I know we can hang with the elites and I just want to see us prove it. Just my opinion.

Someone else kind of mentioned this..

If he were medically cleared to play, you'd think his injury could not be made worse. So hopefully he was medically cleared to play. I really don't like our chances without Beanie. He's the focal point of our offense. He's why most of us think we have such a good shot at winning it all this year. He's the freakin' man. Our team changes a lot without him. I like our backups a lot, but none of them can replace Beanie. He's irreplaceable.

It would be sweet if Tressel just happened to be getting tricky. But that's not Tressel. :tongue2:

And there he goes... Leave it to somebody who knows way more than us to be optimistic. :wink2:

Sorry I'm 6 pages behind here, but some Buckeye fans are way too worried about this. It would take a steel cage made for tigers to keep Beanie from suiting up and taking some snaps. If it hurts, then it hurts. He played hurt all last year. I'm not saying he's superman, but he's got his own beliefs, goals, and limits, and they are beyond above most of ours. If Beanie can play, Beanie will play.

If Beanie can't play, we have 84 other scholarship players. THE Ohio State Buckeyes are going to the Coliseum to play USC, not just Beanie Wells.

I like our chances either way.

This post made me quit reading this thread completely, because no more needed to be said. Absolutlely outstanding points made here. And I, also, like our chances with or without young Mr. Wells. (Preferably with, though).
