RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

Well, he said the coaches asked him not to divulge too much info, so he only told me what he could, but from what I picked up from our convo is that, the only way for it to fully heal, is to stay off of it. But, the way I know Chris, you'd have to kill him to keep him off the field. So it has the potential to get worse, but not hinder his mobility and speed.

P.S. He said it was ok for me to post this info. He reads this site, lol.
Thanks, appreciate the info. Let's hope this doesn't become a recurring injury and he's able to fight through it. Get well soon big man!

And I think someone needs to smack Jim Rome because he's going way overboard with questioning Tressel with playing Wells in the 3rd quarter. He acts like Wells is out for the year. Is he even listening to Tressel's updates?

He's huge in SoCal and it appeals to his audience, so there you go. He's not incorrect to point out that Beanie really didn't need to be in the game at that point, but he also doesn't seem to really know how severe the injury is or isn't. He's an entertainer, not a journalist - take it for what it's worth.

I'm not a doctor, but am I correct in saying that ligaments do not heal themselves and almost always require surgery? I have known players who have played with partialy torn knee ligaments who required surgery at season's end. If this is true, I'm sure he can play, but he will have to deal with a great deal of pain from time to time.

I hope I'm wrong.

There are some ligaments in the ankle that do not need surgery, rehab will strengthen the ankle and foot. Same w/ the knee. The PCL (posterior cruciate ligament) can be torn but the knee can be rehabbed w/out surgery.

Yeah, true, but I don't think it's nearly as big of a deal as some are making it out to be. Whatever though. Just hope Wells recovers and has a great year.

Buckeyes' Beanie Wells unlikely to play against Ohio U.

COLUMBUS Ohio State football Head Coach Jim Tressel said running back Beanie Wells, who injured his right foot in the season opener Saturday against Youngstown State, is doubtful to play this weekend against Ohio. Tressel did not provide medical specifics or a diagnosis for Wells' injury.

"I saw him in the training room earlier this morning, and he said he felt really, really good," Tressel said. "If the game were today, I probably would say he wouldn't go. We'll go day-by-day."

Wells suffered what was termed a soft tissue injury. X-rays were negative.

However, those types of injuries can linger.

"I really don't know the answer to that. I would hope it doesn't," Tressel said. "There's a lot of pounding on a big tailback's wheels. I would like to think this is something we can get behind us."

The more pressing issue is the game in two weeks at Southern Cal, a game that could shape the national title race.

"He wouldn't play Saturday if he doesn't get some work in this week," Tressel said. "I wouldn't expect him to practice today. We've got some work Wednesday and Thursday, and Friday is a walk-through day. We're hoping he can back in there as early as this week. Realistically, I don't think there are any promises."

Did you ask him why he didn't hold onto the ball, or did you not want to get pummeled by a very large man. :tongue2:
I'm sure when buchtelgrad04 isn't busy "messing with Sasquatch" he can be found telling Heisman front runners in pain to "hold on to the damn ball!" Damn beef jerky will make you do some crazy things. :wink2:

Since he reads this site I'll take the time to say:

1) Get well soon young man!

2) Don't do anything to permanently damage yourself so don't rush back if you aren't ready.

3) Enjoy those years in school, you only get 'em once and no matter how much fun you have later, I doubt it'll be as fun as your time at TOSU. I've had a great life, but those 4 yrs in school were, by far, the best.

4) Oh yeah, get well soon!

+1!!!

But that said, I would take a less-than-100% Beanie over any other back in the country except for Chuck Norris.

The Heisman is actually being renamed the "Chuckanator" trophy to pay tribute to Chuck Norris and his 10,000 yard 147 TD season while playing for Weis at Notre Dame

The best part about those 10,000 yards is that Chuck ran for every last yard with Charlie Weis on his back! Once he got to the endzone, he spiked Weis instead of the football.
