RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

It's interesting to see what drives people. It's obvious Beanie knows he's a special player, but he strives to do better - and that rubs off on his teammates. I forgot who said it on here, but Beanie doesn't need to prove anything to the world after last year. This year is just icing on the cake - and... I guess next year would be the sprinkles.

If Beanie is icing and sprinkles in '08 and '09, then the ice cream will be served by? Pick one.

Robo and Hartline in '08 and the balance of a very talented WR corps in '08 thru '11
TB in '08
Henton in '08 and '09
Mo Wells in '08
Zoom and Boom, in '08, '09, '10
Terrelle Pryor in '09, '10, '11

This will be one extended Buckeye party with enough cake and ice cream for all of us. I'm getting hungry.

Beanie talks about his various injuries last season, improving his game, and winning the Heisman this season. He feels that he was about 70% full strength last year.

If ran for 1600+ yards at 70%, our opponents had better hope he's nowhere near 100% this season...

If Beanie is a top 10 pick next year, I don't want him back. I want him gone and getting the money he deserves before something could happen. He can always come back later for his degree, but I'd prefer he leave and not risk anything.

It's amazing that the guy had the wrist injury most of the year and so many people didn't even know about it. Hard to believe that some were questioning his toughness when JT talked about the need for Beanie to be a warrior. Jeez, have there been many fellas that have been more of a warrior than he was last year???

or maybe the Browns? Just wondering. Beanie will be a force in the NFL, no doubt. :)
Jamal will be ready to move on at that point, God I hope so.. anywhere but the fucking Ravens

There was a lot wrong with Clarett between the ears, but he understood that a RB has only so many carries in his body, may as well get paid for as many as possible.
Strangely, I dont think thats exactly what went through MoC's head

It' "don't pay the bills". Luv ya Beanie....you take care of you after this year. No matter what, you'll have earned it.
It's one thing to be all for what ever he wants to do, but I really don't understand the current sentiment of wishing he goes to the NFL. If the kid wants to wait a year before football becomes a business to him, that's his decision. I've heard current pro's say they wish they'd waited.

He's going to be fine in any scenario. Seems like an intelligent kid with plenty of drive and good connections. Eddie really seems to have taken a liking to him, and Eddie is a pretty saavy business man.

Look, current pros say all sorts of things but if they were put in the same position again, they'd take the money...because it's the wise thing to do. Now, JL wanted to come back...seems fair to me as him family is already set for life. That's not true for Beanie and it's also well known that RBs (especially those like Beanie) have a short lifespan in the NFL because of the beating they take. So my feelings are quite simple, I want what's best for him....and if he's a top 10 kid, what's best for him is to get paid. The education will ALWAYS be available to him.

I'm not saying I'd put some kinda "hate hex" on him if he stayed, obviously I'd love him as a Buck, but I AM stating that I would prefer he leave...for his own sake. JTs general rule about heading to the NFL if you are a first rounder is solid...it just makes too much sense. And if you're in the top 10, well it makes even more sense. He'll always be a Buckeye, but my feeling is that he'll have given more than enough to tOSU after this year (assuming a good/healthy year) and I'll be happy to see him capable of securing himself and his family for life.

I somewhat agree.. It would probably be the smart thing to do.

However, let's say he does win the Heisman next year (Just for clarification, I'm not trying to say that he IS going to win a Heisman next year, but it is a definite possibility). That makes 2 Heismans a definite possibility. That would make Beanie only the second person in the history of the world to win 2 Heismans, and it would not escape him that those would both be RB's from OSU. Some things are worth more than money, and that may very well be one of them for him. For me, it wouldn't even be close- I would come back. Yes, even with all the millions in my face.. The chance to win TWO heismans.. It's just unfathomable to me, it would be so amazing. Couldn't it be the same with Beanie?

And you have to consider the fact that one thing tOSU is good at is getting alumnus jobs. If Wells were to stay for his senior year- especially if we won at least one heisman- he could open up a bar in C-bus, become an announcer, or any other number of options and he'd be set. It wouldn't be the money that he'd get from another year in the pros, obviously, but it's be a safe source of income that he'd never lose. So it's not like he'd go broke or anything; he just wouldn't be able to afford those extra few mansions.
