RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

dude plays with a broken bone all season, still puts up over a 1600 yards. ridiculous, what a beast. and everybody blew up tebow for playing a half with a broken bone.

What I thought was awesome was that even with a broken wrist, the dude didn't fumble much. Especially amazing since he had some issues with fumbling as a frosh.

He just looked so focused out there this year in spite of the pain. I just can't wait to see him healthy next season. Beanie is looking like he might put together a season we'll all remember for a very long time! :)

:oh: :io:

EDIT: Did he fumble? I seem to remember one early on.

Definitely lost one against Minnesota. He also had one against MSU that was recovered by OSU. I can't think of any others, but that means very little.

There was also one against Illinois that he recovered himself, late in the first half. Three, with just one lost, for the season.

Scout.com: 2008 Spring Preview - Players Who'll Go Nuts

Chris "Beanie" Wells, RB Ohio State
Ohio State has been a national punching bag after losing the last two national championship games, but the ire hasn't been directed at Beanie. With a scary combination of speed, power, and breakaway ability, the junior, who's coming off a 1,605-yard, 15-touchdown season, is on the true short list of Heisman candidates and will be a top 15 pick if he
chooses to come out next year. With a veteran line to work behind and a loaded offense to take the heat off, the only thing keeping Wells from an obnoxious-stat season will be the blowouts. He won't be playing in most fourth quarters.

Scout.com: 2008 Spring Preview - The Heisman Contenders

The call on the Heisman finalists as spring ball gets going ...

Chris "Beanie" Wells, RB Ohio State
While there's an anti-Ohio State sentiment out there, and will be all season long, Wells will be immune. After all, he only got two carries in the Florida debacle and tore off 146 yards and a breathtaking touchdown against LSU. Considered the top pro running back prospect in college football, the spotlight will be on all season long as he's expected to crank out yet another monster year, after running for 1,609 yards and 15 touchdowns, behind one of the nation's best offensive lines.

He'll win it if ... He flirts with 2,000 yards, blows up in a win over USC, and Ohio State is in the hunt for the national championship until the end. The trip to Los Angeles on September 13th has to be the defining moment since few will give much love or attention to a huge season in the much-maligned Big Ten.

sarbucks: Darwin and Awards

Also, about 600 team awards were given out at the team banquet. Most notably, Beanie was chosen as the team MVP. Not only does his 2008 Heisman campaign need to begin on January 7th, but I've decided that I should create a new slang to get him some more media attention. Perhaps "The Stiff Arm of Beanie Wells" should be synonymous with awesome from now. For example, "I saw No Country For Old Men the other day. It was The Stiff of Arm of Beanie Wells". You can even stick your arm out to communicate the silent version.

CPD: Ohio State Buckeyes running back Beanie Wells recovered from hand surgery

Also says no surgery on ankle...

Ohio State Buckeyes running back Beanie Wells recovered from hand surgery

March 25, 2008 23:59PM

Columbus -- Ohio State begins spring football practice Thursday and running back and Heisman Trophy candidate Beanie Wells should be healthy and prepared for what could be his last season in Columbus.

His mother, Paulette, said Tuesday night that her son had recovered from surgery on his left hand that took place shortly after Ohio State's national championship game loss to LSU. She said a bone was taken from his wrist and used to repair the broken bone in his hand that he played with during the entire 2007 season. His cast was removed about three weeks ago, his mother said, and he has been back in the weight room rehabbing.

cont'd...

Chris Wells on a touchdown run in the BCS national title game in January

As Chris ?Beanie? Wells continues to recuperate from post-season surgery to repair his left wrist, Ohio State coaches aren?t going to lean on him too much this spring. But coach Jim Tressel said today that Wells, who set the school?s sophomore record for rushing yards last season with 1,609 yards, will be good to go in the fall.
?We will keep him out of some contact things? this spring, Tressel said.
Then again, he could say that about most of his returning starters. The Buckeyes ? loaded with nine returning starters on offense and 10 on defense, plus a bevy of letter-winners on both sides ? are going to concentrate as much on the mental side of the game as the physical side, he said.

I don't think that cat was ever in the bag. Beanie's gone; he's had nothing left to prove after the championship game. This year is just gravy.

Well, I think we all assumed that but no one from Beanie's camp ever actually came out loud with it. So yes, the cat was definitely in the bag. :wink2:
