RB Carlos "El Guapo" Hyde (Official Thread)

Well, he'll be back - for 9 reg season games, the BIG championship, and the bowl game - unless he wants to continue to be a dumbass. I'm encouraged. It'll give Rod Smith an opportunity, and perhaps a Wilson or Marshall will have some extra plays to show what they can do. This can make Ohio State better in the long run.

Regardless, we know where we are. Well, we will when the other dumbass' case is more clear.

What Carlos did was wrong, but let's look at the bright side. It didn't involve drugs, guns (or weapons of any kind), or gangs. He wasn't caught on tape accepting cash or other illegal benefit. This situation is nothing to be proud of, but there are a lot of ways in which this could have been much, much worse.

Troy only got two games for taking money from a booster didn't he?

Let's just remember that this image of an Alabama player is in the media this week too. Which coach has disciplined his player properly?

My guess is, they both have.

I think it's a slippery slope when we try to hold the stupid actions of testosterone-fueled young men against their coaches.

Not to go OT again, but just as an FYI.

I once got one of those nuru massages from an Asian chick and she told me "slippery slope" is considered a racist term.

All bitch slapping jokes aside, I have a daughter and if that were her in the video I'd be A) [censored]ed at her for acting like a fool but also B) pretty far from ok with what Hyde did.

Another way to say it is I also have a son and if he were playing the role of Mr Hyde in that video the 3 games would be the very least of his worries. I, and worse for him-his mother, would take a personal interest in seeing him suffer for a while.

He could have easily walked away but instead leaned back in and slapped her. It wasn't much of a slap but that doesn't matter, it was a slap to the face of a woman. You don't hit women.

Pics or GTFO.

And a slightly different circumstance - the Hyde issue doesn't involve the NCAA whereas Troy's did.

Which I would argue further highlights the different approaches to punishment. CH gets 3 games for a non-crime/non-ncaa incident. TS gets two games for an incident that was both an ncaa violation and called into question the culture and ethics surrounding the program.

I've been very, very pleased with UM's approach to date. I also think it will turn out to have a somewhat self-selecting (or rather self-deselecting) result in recruiting. Problem cases are simply going to scratch Ohio State off their list, and we won't have to debate their antics nor the appropriateness of their punishment down the road.

I don't make light of what Hyde did. He was foolish and deserves the punishment that Coach Meyer has given him.

My dream is that this photo gets put on screen at a full team meeting in the WHAC, and UM tells the assembled team that, "you do this, and you can start packing your bags for the JC of your choice."

The only crime this Bama player is guilty of is being a moron. I don't see how you can compare the two.

My dream is that this photo gets put on screen during the telecast of every Alabama game this year.

Hey, a guy can dream, right?

Most college students don't have that kind of money. It would at least raise questions as to where the money came from.

EDIT: Especially when one of his tweets (now removed) said - “I’m doing better than I EVER did! Now I can give big bills to my relatives!”
