It has been a series of growth spurts for Carlos Hyde since he left Naples High.
There was the humbling first year of going to Fork Union Military Academy, the first season at Ohio State where the running back had limited carries, then last season when he started and had some nice numbers, only to see Dan Herron return from suspension and get most of the workload.
?The last three years has been like a roller-coaster,? Hyde said. ?There?s been ups and downs and some things have not gone the way I wanted them to go.?
As he enters his junior season with the Buckeyes, Hyde again finds himself the starter. The question is, can the 6-foot, 232-pounder keep the job?
?He?s a very conscientious young man, very aware of the opportunity he?s been given,? said Stan Drayton, Ohio State?s running backs coach. ?He?s not going to celebrate the fact and he does realize he needs to fill some shoes.
?We?ve talked about that very thing ? to take advantage of an opportunity when it comes your way. These opportunities are not promised and guaranteed once you have them. You have to claim it because it can be taken away from you.
