RB Carlos "El Guapo" Hyde (Official Thread)

I disagree. Ill take Jordan Lynch's 2,457 yds passing, 1755 yds rushing, 43 TDs, and 5 INTs, and a perfect season.

Iowa 49
Idaho 110
E.Illinois FCS
Purude 77
Kent State 74
Akron 99
C. Mich 89
E. Mich 112
UMASS ???
Ball State 102
Toledo 109
W.Mich 61
Bowling Green 6

The best defense Jordan Lynch has faced is 49th. He shouldn't even be in the discussion

So his numbers don't mean much because of his conference affiliation and their struggles, despite leading his team to a perfect season? Hmm, felt like Ive heard this from some SEC fans recently regarding rankings.

(Not going to get into a Heisman debate in Hyde's thread)

Theoretically yes, but I suspect if we look at it... Heismans go to the perceived "best player" on a team in the NC picture more often than not.

If Ohio State's 2 MVPs are out of the picture for missing 3 games each, I think Bridgewater should be back in the discussion.

Just remove Eastern Kentucky, FIU, and any other 1 team of your choosing on their schedule and call it even.

As for Carlos, he has certainly left a mark on Buckeye lore that cannot be taken away. First 1000 yd RB for Urban, 226 against Michigan, rebounded big time from his suspension to shoulder a lot of the load and carry the team when needed. He's a physical back that doesn't back down. IMO, he has the most heart as a RB that we have had at Ohio State since Beanie.

That said, you could make the case for 3 players ahead of him, one of which being his own teammate, Braxton.
I know that I got dissed for saying this in Braxton's thread regarding the fact that I do not think Lynch should be a Heisman candidate. I think if you would put Braxton in that same offense against the same caliber of teams that Lynch played throughout his career Braxton's numbers would be through the charts.

While that may be true, its not as if NIU or Jordan Lynch has a power conference team surrounding him. NIU aren't the Buckeyes. He is being blocked by MAC-level talent, and throwing to MAC recievers that match up evenly against MAC defenders. Jordan Lynch is just one of those guys that should have been on a Big Ten roster but instead finds himself carrying his team when needed, to the tune of an undefeated season.

Besides, this isn't Timmy Chang. Jordan Lynch isn't just chucking up passes at will and getting intercepted frequntly.

Ohio State senior RB Carlos Hyde has converted 80 percent of his third down carries this season, according to Greg Peshek.
As we have stated over and over again, Hyde has really emerged this season. Our own josh Norris has compared him to Zac Stacy and Frank Gore because of his ability to beat first contact on a consistent basis. For comparison, Boston College's Andre Williams has converted close to 45 percent of the same opportunities. Dec 4
