RB Bri'onte Dunn (dismissed from team)

There are a number of highly positive things in this story:
- had to borrow his mom's car (?): not paid for by boosters. He survived that temptation.
- no probable cause found to administer breathalyzer etc
- there appeared to be no probable cause for the search, so it appears that he cooperatively consented (but in my opinion perhaps disingenuously)
- the police said he was polite, despite what appears to me to be aggressive search tactics after a routine traffic incident?
- could not even afford a "late model" car, perhaps because he devoted himself to football during the spring and summer, actions that will likely help bring millions of dollars to the state of Ohio in football revenue
- no complaints against him from his friend in the car
- was in an academic position to graduate early from high school, saving his local taxpayers money
- good relationship with his parents

I am extraordinarily impressed. I was not sure such role model heroes existed.

The vultures had been circling overhead: where are they now?

As a side comment, at a personal level, it is interesting the offenses that can be found if someone gets a little too close to a police car. But the police filed no charges against themselves when they almost ran over me in a cross walk, on a dark street, driving inexplicably without their lights on.

I'm assuming the search was as a result of the reckless driving

Bri'onte Dunn passes drug test in Columbus

?It was clean,? Brion Dunn said. ?He had to go through an outside facility, and Ohio State said he had to have the test done.?

Dunn is facing a minor misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct, as well as a seat belt violation and a tail light violation as a result of a traffic stop late Saturday night.

Alliance police initially cited Dunn for drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. However, Alliance City Law Director Andrew Zumbar reviewed the evidence ? police reports, cruiser video and witness statements ? and said the proper charge is disorderly conduct, not the drug charges.

Dunn?s father said his son is in the process of seeking legal counsel for the disorderly conduct charge.

Ohio State Head Coach Urban Meyer has not made a statement on Dunn?s situation. Meyer has, however, taken a tough stance at Ohio State on players who get into trouble off the field.

You know what they say about assumptions.

Some cops are just assholes, pure and simple. They see a kid with his buddy go by while probably blasting music, they pull the car over for "license plate light not working" or some other BS so that they can basically see if the kid is up to anything. Happens all the time.

My son and his cousin got detained but a local yokel down here for walking down the street at dusk. They weren't doing anything but walking to Game Stop to trade in some games. Cop wanted to cite them for disorderly conduct because the cousin had the audacity to ask why he was being questioned. My ex was called to the scene since they were close to her house and basically told the cop if he cites them she'll have his badge for false arrest of a minor. Cop let them go because he knew he was in the wrong.

I know the cops are supposed to "protect and serve", but unfortunately there are those who think they are gods of the law and will do anything to up their citation/arrest record.

Alliance-

Bri?onte Dunn has been acquitted of the only criminal charge he faced after police stopped a vehicle he was driving July 28 and said they found a small amount of marijuana.

Municipal Court Magistrate Jean Madden acquitted Dunn, 19, after a bench trial Friday that included testimony from Dunn and three other witnesses.

Madden concluded there was not enough evidence to support a disorderly conduct charge, a minor misdemeanor that carries no jail time.

The case stemmed from a July incident when police stopped a vehicle Dunn was driving after he allegedly almost hit a police cruiser at a blinking red light.

Police said they found marijuana and a pipe in the car, registered to Dunn?s mother, and initially cited Dunn for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

But a review of the evidence didn't support those charges, according to the city Law Department.

The case went to trial Friday on the disorderly conduct charges and two traffic violations allegations.

Dunn was found guilty of the two traffic violations, rear-license illumination and no seat belt violations. He was fined $60, plus court costs.

Dunn, a GlenOak High School graduate and standout football player, is a freshman running back at Ohio State University.

the disorderly conduct charge was based on Dunn almost striking the police cruiser and then impeding the flow of traffic for about 25 minutes as police searched for marijuana.

Hindering or preventing the movement of persons on a public street, road, highway, or right-of-way
This seems moderately counter intuitive? The officer could have asked for the car to be moved?

If party A drives through a sobriety checkpoint and slows down, forcing party B behind them to slow down, then party A can be charged with disorderly conduct, which is nothing that several thousand dollars in legal fees cannot fix? That could cause party A to pull a bottle out at the sobriety checkpoint.

Note to self: it is safer to lay in bed all day and read BP.

Engaging in fighting, in threatening harm to persons or property, or in violent or turbulent behavior;
For some reason, I think about the blitz package, not the running backs.

This is all I needed to hear.

Bri'onte Dunn's Traffic Stop

He certainly handled it a lot better than her...she lies about 4 different times (where the pipe is from, why is it hot, etc.)

She then also refuses to answer the question of whether or not she will submit a urine sample while Brionte offers his.

I don't know if my opinion really changes at all...she seems really desperate and scared.

Bri'onte Dunn's Traffic Stop
First, I have no idea if Dunn smoked the weed or not. As has been stated, the girl changed her story a couple of times. The video states it was edited. Was the edit removing the part where police told the girl if she got Dunn to confess they would drop the charges against her? That is at least a possibility. Those who want to believe he is guilty will believe she was telling the truth. Those who want to believe he is innocent will believe she lied. Me, I don't know. I hope he's innocent.

And most importantly, GO BUCKS!!

He took a drug test. He passed. He had his charges dropped. So there's that.
