Todd Porter: Dunn should have stayed in Columbus

The world is a cynical place. Ohio State running back Bri?onte Dunn is about to find out just how cynical.
Dunn probably had his college football career flash before his eyes over the last several days. He was pulled over late Saturday night two blocks from the Alliance Police Department for driving like he runs the football.
After the traffic stop, police found a ?minute? amount of marijuana in the 2001 Dodge Stratus Dunn was driving. Dunn and his passenger, McKensey Cross, both initially were cited for drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. The marijuana pipe was not found on Dunn, Alliance City Law Director Andrew Zumbar said.
Zumbar reviews reports and ultimately decides what charges to file based on the evidence.
Zumbar reviewed the police report, officers? supplemental narratives, witness statements and the dash video from the police cruiser. He is authorizing charges that he can prove, which are disorderly conduct, a seat-belt violation and a car taillight violation.
The car belongs to Dunn?s mother, Donna Hatcher. She showed up on the scene and said the small amount of marijuana found in the car ? who knows if there was even enough to test without destroying all the evidence ? was there before her 6-foot-2, 215-pound son drove it Saturday.
?Based upon the content of all that, I made the decision to authorize charges of minor misdemeanor disorderly conduct instead of drug possession,? Zumbar said.
