RB Brandon "Zoom" Saine (official thread)

Thomas has caught at least 3-4 passes in the open field, and done nothing with them.

IIRC, every one of those passes to Thomas have hardly been in the "open field"...every one had a defender right on Flash's ass immediately after the catch. He needs to be either given better blocking setting up those routes, or maybe the routes themselves aren't very well designed and routes that actually get him into space needs to be drawn up.

It's possible that Saine's biggest "problem" is just a lack of game reps? His injuries have set him back and he may just take time to recover. Herron has shone steady improvement with each game. Why not Saine at some point. But, his window may already be shrinking.

If he has a good game tomorrow, his window just might open back up.

IMO, Brandon had a lot of last year (yes, he was injured though) plus all of this year and hasn't been able to get much done. Prove me wrong Brandon but I just can't see any type of break out performance.

Maybe some handoffs to Thomas should be in store sooner or later? End around anyone?

Ends around for both of them. I say Zoom has a big game today.

Realistically, even with a weak run defense, I wouldn't expect a breakout day for either. Rumors are Thomas was involved more in practice this week.
Take that for what it's worth as game time we often see a complete change from what happened in practice.

Saine was on the field once, the announcer even mentioned his hamstring injury and stated that he is not yet 100%.

Bured, again, on the depth chart. I'd sure like to know what the staff thinks in regards to Saine and his progression (or regression if that's what they think) and what kind work can be done to help him progress again.

It wouldn't take too much imagination for the coaches to figure out a way to use that speed. If nothing more than taking the DBs deep every other play. A post pattern deep - stratight line over the middle.
