It was a big day for backup tailback Brandon Saine. He had nine carries for 69 yards as well as five catches for 76 yards.
"It was really fun to come back and play in front of all of these people," said Saine, who had missed two previous games due to a knee injury. "I just went out there and made the best of it."
Boeckman added, "Brandon is something else. Once he gets the ball, he is exciting to watch. He has a lot of speed. He can beat anybody around the corner. It's really exciting where he's at and where he's heading."

COLUMBUS ? Ohio State considered making Brandon Saine a receiver this season because of his dazzling speed. But the freshman running back is giving his coaches what they were seeking even without a position switch.
Saine had five receptions for 76 yards against Kent State, both game highs. He also led the Buckeyes in rushing with 69 yards on nine carries, all in the second half.

Ohio State Buckeyes may run Brandon Saine play again

Columbus -- You can bet Ohio State coach Jim Tressel will be calling that play again, although he might have to tuck it away for a while.
Freshman running back Brandon Saine caught a 35-yard deep pass from quarterback Todd Boeckman in Saturday's 48-3 win over Kent State after lining up as the fullback and then breaking wide open on his route out of the backfield.
"It was kind of a trick play almost," Saine said. "I ran around the corner and saw nobody there, so I knew the ball was coming to me. I hoped nobody would get there."
