RB Brandon "Zoom" Saine (official thread)

I really don't see Brandon getting many touches this week even if he is healthy. Yes, maybe a few swing passes or the Shot Ginn formation but the way Mo Wells ran last week and Beanie is well, Beanie, hopefully there wont be much need to get Brandon out there. I want Beanie to get 30 carries this week and Mo to follow that up with 12-15. The longer we keep Purdue's offense off the field the better.

Agreed. I would love to see Beanie carry the ball a bunch. I know last year he mentioned that in high school he would often run better late in the game because wears down defenses. This would be a great game to gage how well he can do that, and also it should be fun to see how he reacts to being a starter in a big game like this.

If he's not completely healthy, I wouldn't want him to play.

We have Kent State next week, so I say we let him rest this week as well as the next, and make sure he is as healthy as possible.

Why take the risk when we have so many different weapons?

Saine gives us a different look and can really give the offense another weapon, and if its a close game he'll come in handy as a complement to beanie... Mo Wells is ok to run the ball when we are up and running the clock down, but i don't know how much i like him back there when we need to move the ball. The Offense could no doubt be much more potent with Saine as the change of pace back.

Fast recovery has Saine in game plan

COLUMBUS ? Ohio State already knew running back Brandon Saine could make speedy moves. The freshman from Piqua showed he can make a speedy recovery, too.
Saine had arthroscopic knee surgery to repair torn cartilage Sept. 21 and missed two games, but he's been practicing full speed this week and is expected to see action against Purdue on Saturday.

NEAL C. LAURON dispatch
Running back Brandon Saine is expected to be on the field for 15-20 plays against Purdue.

Figuring 15 or 20 plays for freshman Brandon Saine is better than none, Ohio State will play the running back at Purdue on Saturday, 15 days after he underwent arthroscopic knee surgery. Coach Jim Tressel said yesterday that Saine has been cleared to play but that the upper limit for his participation is probably 20 plays.

He ran pretty careful tonight.

Yeah...the one hand off he kind of just stood there for a second before he even took a step. Of course there were 3 Boilers standing there waiting to drill him no matter which way he ran:)

He'll probably get a lot of carries next week, so let's hope he's completely confident with that knee!
