QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

I think you guys get much too worked up over what a TV analyst says but that's just me.

Think of EsPIN as pro/fake wrestling back in the late 80s and early 90s. The heels get all of the mic time and say whatever it is they want. I just ignore them for the most part except to make fun of them.

I don't know about that. I watch games with a large group of fans, none of which are online and they all think he is an ass napkin.

I'd agree with this if the media didn't play such a strong role in influencing the way teams are perceived and voted upon in the polls. Unlike pro wrestling, this dog and pony show has real consequences.

I think, at best, only the fans who pay the most attention to it are the ones saying it.

I don't think that encompasses the majority of Buckeye fans. The total size of the fanbase makes it seem like there are more in terms of percentage but that's just me.

How about embracing your role as a high profile reprentative of the university and conducting it with a bit of maturity and dignity.

It's one thing to do this as a Frosh, but TP has to know people are going to hang on his every word. It's something MoC never figured out either. Of course there are several players in the NFL, NBA, NHL and a few, albeit fewer, in the MLB who have the same issue.

There we agree, but it's more than just sports. The Mediots in this nation have too much power in every facet of life.

Some dudes aren't built that way. I'm not saying Terrelle can't or won't grow up, I'm just saying some people don't shy away from contact. It can be a flaw, just as never confronting your detractors can be.

I have no problem with the QB of my favorite team speaking his mind to a forty year old never-was that is picking on him for the sole purpose of driving up ratings and exercising some sort of personal demons and shame at never doing anything in the profession he really wanted to be known for.

Have to disagree kizzle.

It's clear the mediots are waiting for him. He keeps giving them ammo.

Discretion is the better part of valor in this case.

I ain't mad at ya.

I just believe that just because someone has an agenda doesn't mean TP doesn't have the right to stick up for himself. Even if he plays into their bullshit, if he feels he needs to speak the fuck up, then that's what the fuck he needs to do.

The Buckeyes should have no complaint about poll ratings.

And nothing Terrelle Pryor has said or done to this point is going to change that.

They don't this year. I'm speaking in the macro sense.

Commentary does not occur in a vacuum, especially on ESPN. That's why the petty and made up stuff is harmful and influences competition, no matter who it is directed toward.

When Arkansas hired Bobby Petrino, he was eviscerated by ESPN, CBS and everyone else.

The very same Herbstreit that is taking shots at OSU and Pryor, along with everyone else on ESPN, were openly telling the entire nation what a horrible, horrible person Bobby Petrino was and that parents would be INSANE to allow their kids to go to Arkansas - a program so desperate to win that they would hire a mercenary coach without morals, scruples or loyalty.

It was BRUTAL and it went on and on and on.

There is a perception among many Razorback fans that the reaction was in no small measure due to the relationship of ESPN with Arthur Blank/Home Depot.

With Arkansas' success this year, along with the contract Petrino recently agreed to, much of the sniping at him and the Razorbacks has died down.

But even today, during the GameDay show, when they did the Season Highlights Montage, not one single clip of the Razorbacks were included.

While I don't entirely buy the ESPN/Arthur Blank/HomeDepot conspiracy theory, I don't completely write it off either.

So, I understand what you are saying.

But I also know this: Take care of business on and off the field, and the rankings/polls/votes will take care of itself.

Win games and stay out of controversies and don't give them any ammo to shoot you with. Everything else will take care of itself. Every time Pryor opens his mouth, he invites an ever greater scrutiny and opens himself up to even more criticism.

He needs to be quiet.

Another couple of points that need to be made:

A: The feeling that your team is treated unfairly by ESPN is universal among fans of every single college football program in existence with one notable exception - Boise State - who ESPN spends more time fellating than seems humanly possible.

2 - Big Time Programs like OSU get Big Time Attention - good and bad. To complain about that is like complaining about the wind blowing. You can do it all you want, but it won't stop it. It's when they stop talking about you that you should worry.
