Are you sure that he didn't pay the full amount for Steve Clarkston's camp? I find it hard to believe. I do believe that someone put the money up for him.

Secondly, not everybody agrees he's one of the best 11's QB's. Best QB prospect, yes. The camp is for passing, not running, which is a big part of Pyror's game. So if he went to an Elite 11 tryout, do you really believe that he would be one of the best passers? I don't. No doubt they'd take him for who "he is", but he has to atleast show up, no exceptions. Can you imagine what would hapen if they took Pyror despite him never working out? Year after year, kids that can't make the tryout will want the same exceptions that Pyror got. It's bad for business.

In the end, Pyror could have went to PSU Nike Elite 11 tryout, but "he" chose to go the prom. It's not his senior, so it's not like he had to go. I know it tough for a kid his age to be making these types of decisions, but he could have made an exception to skip prom and go to the tryout if he really wants it that bad.

Here's my last point on the topic. If the money's not a problem, what's the difference between Pyror flying out to Las Vegas next month for the Adidas Big Time Tournament, but not to Las Vegas for the Elite 11 Tryout? Hmm..?

If the Elite 11 Camp is not important to him, than the conversation doesn't matter.

To answer your last question first, the Big Time Tournament is paid by his AAU sponsors and isn't coming out of his own pocket. Trust me, he doesn't have money to fly all over and since he already has about 80 offers I think he is right in that he doesn't need to. Some of the families of these kids go broke because of this kind of stuff. It's a racket and they are taking advantages of these kids. I'm happy to see Pryor's family has displayed some sense. The Elite 11 is not the end all or be all for him and I don't blame a kid for wanting to go to a prom over some camp.

One college coach says if Pryor concentrated exclusively on basketball, he'd be the No. 1 prospect. Well, he's the No. 1 football prospect even though he's still playing hoops. Pryor might give up this game to concentrate on playing quarterback at the college level, but he is so physically gifted that he could contribute to a high-major basketball program simply by showing up in mid-January and playing to the start of spring practice. A lot of basketball coaches are rooting for their school's football counterparts to land him.

Jeannette, Pa., quarterback Terrelle Pryor, the nation's No. 1 player, trimmed his list to 11 schools late last week. Pryor -- a 6-foot-5, 220-pounder who reminds many of Vince Young -- is down to Alabama, Florida, Georgia Tech, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas and West Virginia. Pryor told me that seven of those 11 stand out a bit more than the others. My best guess at those who will make the next cut when he narrows it down to five in August? Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee, Florida and Texas.
