QB/WR Braxton Miller (B1G POY, National Champion, OSU HOF)

Definitely. People seem to go straight to completion percentage for how good a QB is, but also forget poor WR play (dropsies) was a large part in Braxton's low percentage in 2012. I think he more accurate than people give him credit for. If he had the '14 WR group in '12, I'd say he's above 60% as a Soph.

Like I said in another thread, I think I had a similar surgery to Braxton. Will he be the same? Probably not. Like me, I figure he'll lose some arm strength and zip on his throws. But will it be to the point that he can't function as a passer? Doubtful. I'd liken him to the reverse Jason White. Brax should still have a good enough arm for CFB, but probably not for the NFL. I just tend to think he's buying in to Urban's team talk and can see him switching positions. We'll see.

It's hard to make a comparison unless you played Quarterback or pitcher. A torn labrum is a very serious injury for those positions, and a good enough arm means he's the 3rd string QB, because JT and Cardale have way more than just "good enough" arms. It's not impossible that he'd come back from this injury, but I believe his future is at a different position in the NFL, so why not start that audition next year.

He had a tendency to throw behind the receivers, especially on medium length crossing routes, so even if they were being completed, the receivers were not in a position to get YAC. I felt like the shorter passes, and longer passes were better, accuracy wise.

If Braxton is healthy I'm pretty sure he will start at QB...He jus can't go from playing QB his whole life to a WR and be good in one yr.H-back we have Jalin,Dontre,Samuel,Noah,Campbell..JT or Cardale never would and can't carry a team on their back like Braxton did from his freshman yr the plays were Braxton run left or run right now we have weapons so the 10yd runs dat Jt and Cardale got would be 30yd from Braxton n this offense

He can improve on accuracy but all that takes in repetition..

Which has been severely hindered by the injury...he likely won't be able to throw the ball with high repetition until the summer (maybe late summer). As to him switching positions, he played WR until about halfway through his freshman year of high school, so he is not completely unfamiliar with the position, plus he knows the HB role (QB's have to know everyone's role). Regardless, his injury might force him out of the QB position whether he is open to the change or not.

As @pnuts34 pointed out and as I have been advocating, the NFL will be looking at Braxton as a RB/WR at the next level (especially after this surgery appears to be recurring)...give your best audition next year in that role and move up the draft board.

Yep. The NFL already knows what he can do in both designed and improvised runs from the QB position...now they need to see what he can do flexed out where running in his primary role [Herpstreet]in space[/Herpstreet].

So if he goes to HB wat u do with dontre n Jalin hold them back another yr?

Wouldn't surprise me if one of them moves outside, and then Brax plus the remaining guy split time the same way Wilson and Jalin did all year. Or just use all 3.
Urban clearly likes having at least 2 guys at all the skill positions. There's some room at WR after starting last year with 6 guys Urban wanted to work in (Devin, Spencer, Thomas, Corey, Dixon, Greene). Two of those are gone, not sure what to expect with Greene. McLaurin is being tipped to step in by pundits.
The bigger question is how it effects some of the RS Frosh, specifically Parris Campbell. I'm assuming Noah moves to TE?

it's a 9-12 month recovery so best case is June he can start throwing and worse case is he won't be ready for opening day. It seems to me at least that they are concerned that he WONT be ready from what has been said about needing to get his arm right. IMO what I'd love to see done is use his assets that he has on opening night in Blacksburg and then as his arm progresses you can introduce him more at QB.

Start off the year as a HB who get's 8-10 carries a game and also insert him as a red zone QB where his legs (his strength) can be utilized and on top of that you aren't asking him to throw it 50+ yards downfield. If he can manage throws inside 20 yards (but hell he hurt himself on a simple short throw) and then build as the year goes he can truly be a weapon for us later in the year. In the meantime though I think it would be silly not to utilize him in a gadget capacity regardless for no other reason than to make sledding for Zeke' easier.

If Braxton is coming in motion on a Jet sweep and then stops on a dime only to hit a wide open 10 yard Td out route it will open up the zone read drastically with CJ/JT and Zeke' when he comes in motion the next time. Antwon Randel El is exactly who I think of when I think of Braxton's role in our offense next year and I think it would be wreckless to Braxton and most especially the team to have him anywhere near the starting QB role in week 1. What we do know is he's been out of football for over 1.5 years by the time he'll be worked into the rotation in August and I do not personally believe you can shake off that kind of rust, build up that kind of strength, and continue our fluid offense with 3 weeks of training camp. Best case is to work him in and give him more and more as the year goes so that he can get through the year Healthy and ready for the NFL.
