QB/WR Braxton Miller (B1G POY, National Champion, OSU HOF)

Pryor also developed the sense for heat coming from the blind side and got away from it. We need Braxton to get some of that.
I'm not sure about that one. Mortals (designated by names besides Watt & Kerrigan) were rarely allowed to sack him even when he stood still and taunted them with a stationary target to grab.

Ohio State spotlight: QB Braxton Miller
By Tim May
The Columbus Dispatch Thursday September 29, 2011

Freshman Braxton Miller knows he has a major challenge in front of him today by facing Michigan State in a Big Ten opener, but one place he doesn't have to worry about looking is over his shoulder. Coach Luke Fickell made that clear last week after Ohio State's win over Colorado ? Miller is his man at quarterback.

While the offense has embraced it, tight end Reid Fragel said, "I think it's more important for the quarterback himself to just be able to get comfortable. Braxton had a chance to get his feet wet at the beginning of the season, but now I think he's finding his rhythm, he's getting comfortable with the offense and he's finally able to take a step back, relax and take control of things."

In his starting debut against the Buffaloes, Miller both ran and passed for 83 yards, and he threw two touchdown passes to freshman receiver Devin Smith. But on some passing plays, he opted to run quickly when things didn't look right. That's an urge Miller needs to fight, Fickell said, if the offense is to progress.

Today might be a tough time to suppress that urge, because Spartans coach Mark Dantonio's defensive credo, reinforced from his years of working for Nick Saban, is "affect the quarterback." Dantonio will try to do that mentally by mixing coverages and pass-rush tactics, as well as physically by harassing, chasing and trying to sack Miller.

"He's a young guy, so you want to have his back, you want to make sure he doesn't get too banged up," OSU left guard Jack Mewhort said of the offensive line's responsibilities today. "We've got to look out for him. We've got to make sure we give him opportunities to do his thing."

Great to hear about Braxton having a good week. I really think the offense will start to click like after the 09 loss to Purdue. Whether it will happen this week or further down the road, who knows. Best of luck to him on Saturday. It will be a huge road test.

Does this mean he's playing running back now too? Bollman is really getting creative!

This sounds like good progress! Maybe he realizes now how valuable to this team he is, and it lit a fire under his butt. I'm sure he's sick of all of the negative media coverage as well. Either way, here's to hoping he comes out and lights Nebby up!

:oh:

Won't mean squat if we can't keep the defense out of our backfield...

The quarterback has a lot to do with keeping the D out of the backfield. When 7 are coming at you somebody is open. Find that man and the D slows down.

When 2 or 3 of those 7 are in the backfield in about 2 seconds, that's tough to do...
