QB/WR Braxton Miller (B1G POY, National Champion, OSU HOF)

Millers a true frosh ..the Brew crew needs to make the right calls and get in the right protections to help him..my fear is the protections tOSU uses under Bollman are not adequate enough or sophisticated to get the job done. When the Brew Crew came to campus I assumed we'd have a top 10 OL guess I learned what happens when you assume..

One bad game by the OL against a superb defensive minded coach who knows the tendencies of this staff in & out, in part because he was once one of them, and the cliff jumpers are out in droves.

Granted, some linemen played a little more poorly than others, but let's not act like this line isn't still pretty good. I have a feeling the line will be pissed off this week and the running game will be successful. The season doesn't end after one game.

I hope your right but they appeared ill-prepared for the blitz..and I expect Bo to dial it up this week..plus being on the road the line will not get off on the snap like at home because of the noise..

4 games, great showings. 1 game, poor showing.

How soon they forget.
Only played against one good defensive line though. I might agree that one game doesn't erase four, but when that one is the worst offensive line performance at Ohio State I've ever seen I can't consider you to be very good. Hope they come out this week and prove everyone wrong.

Every game is a learning experience for this YOUNG team as well. It isn't a matter of how, but a matter of WHEN this team is going to gel. It may not be this season. (I only say this because the current offensive strategy won't cut it.)

Eventually, someone has to give MSU their just due. They executed their game plan to perfection. 5 or 6 linemen will never be able to block 7 or 8 defensive players. Once the game slows down for Braxton, nobody, and I mean nobody, would rush that many guys.

They took advantage of a young QB. The OL had its moments, but the brunt of the blame should be on the coaches for not adjusting and taking advantage of the downhill blitzing. I believe the OL did enough to win the game. The play calling didn't help anyone.

Which game are you saying was a "great showing?" I must have missed it. Funny, since I have season tickets.

Apparently you did. "They" (not entirely on the OL) gave up 9 sacks last week, 14 for the young season. Coincidentally, Braxton has taken the most of those sacks. When there is no threat of a pass, you send more people than the line can pick up. That's on the QB to get the ball out as quickly as possible. With Bauserman in, oddly enough, he can make those quick throws. Granted, they may not get there accurately, but he doesn't take many sacks.

Yet, was a single screen pass or quick slant thrown? No. Until that happens, the blitz will be all over the young QB.

I know this isn't the right thread, but this could go on all day. The loss is mostly on the coaches (playcalling) and the inexperience at QB. If they would've called those misdirections and screens they practiced or Braxton was adept at calling audibles, totally different game. But you'll see it the way you want to, and we'll agree to disagree.

Back to Braxton...
